The article is new enough, long enough, neutral and not copyvio. I couldn't access the NY Times article, but the hook claim can be verified also using Nature Climate Change. The selection of Lake Oroville for the lead is not good: the lake since 2023 is either completely full (like, now) or almost full. The lack of water in the broad Southwest apparently continues.
