The illustration by W. Hollar is actually called the Long View of London (Southwark being only the near side of the river in his view). Also, my information is old, but when I last checked, the date of this sketch for the later-engraved panorama was conjectural, and (in some minds at least) doubtful. The reasoning was, a) The 2nd Globe was pulled down in 1644, and b) this appears to be an eye-witness sketch for the panorama, and therefore c)Hollar must have made it before 1644. The Wikipedia entry on Hollar states that he came to England in 1637. In short, we know only that he made this drawing sometime between 1637 and 1644. We assume it was an on-the-spot sketch (probably from the tower of Southwark Cathedral) because, unlike other contemporary panoramas, it uses a roughly single point perspective, with the Thames very wide in the center of the roughly 6-foot, multi-sheet engraving, and dwindling in width as it approaches the edges of the view. Incidentally, Hollar's details of the Globe are probably more trustworthy than the elongated, multi-angled image in the Visscher panorama of 1616. St. Mary Overie / Overy and her legend

Isn't there a stone inscription at the St. Mary Overy dock that describes the legend of Mary Overie, the daughter of John Overs, a ferryman?

I also have heard that St. Mary Overy is a corruption of St. Mary of the Ferry, or that Overy is the later spelling of the Saxon word overie meaning “over the water” Group29 (talk) 00:34, 10 March 2014 (UTC)

Richard Humble Monument

In the choir, the monument to Richard Humble, London alderman (d. 1616), contains the inscription beginning with the line "Like to the Damask Rose you see". The so-named Dr. Dunnes Mortalitye was(/is?) contained in the Jackson Manuscript at Edinburgh.--Lmstearn (talk) 19:19, 1 November 2018 (UTC)
