Height, reach edit

Jersey Joe Walcott: A Boxing Biography, James Curl, 2012. Page 194 "Liston stood just slightly over six feet, ... an incredibly long reach of 84” Sonny also had massive fists that measured over 15” around". The 6'1 height currently given is a rounded up figure (It rounds up Ali to 6'3). The article's long established height for Liston was 6 ft and half an inch, that is what the main boxing sites have him at too, and soI am going to put it back to that.Overagainst (talk) 21:25, 18 November 2013 (UTC)Reply

I edited the wrong page; wanted to add to this one here instead. His height is listed as 185cm. Muhamad Ali was 191cm. Now we can all see Ali was taller if you watch the video footage of them fighting, but there were also press conferences, and the difference did not seem to be as much as +6 cm between these two - for example see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tzKywkq-E0I. I have no way to verify anything on my own, but to me it seems as if Liston might have been taller than 185cm? Not as tall as Ali, but 6cm smaller seems a bit big of a difference if you look at the videos. 2A02:8388:1602:6D80:3AD5:47FF:FE18:CC7F (talk) 13:57, 25 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

The Big Bear edit

Sonny Liston's nickname was "The Big Bear2 and yes it was widely used as stated in the source i linked. TheManTheyCallAdam (talk) 09:02, 17 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

You will need a much stronger source than a blog to keep that. Blogs are considered weak as sources. I am removing it for now but once you find a good reliable source, like from a newspaper, feel free to add back. Stefen Towers among the rest! GabGruntwerk 09:23, 17 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
If its so widely used you shouldnt have a problem finding another source that isnt a blog --FMSky (talk) 12:01, 17 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

Capitalizing 'The' in nickname in the midst of a sentence edit

Also, on the topic of the nickname, I believe the wiki guideline WP:THE suggests that 'The' is not to be capitalized in the middle of the lead sentence including this nickname. I'm not going to engage in an edit conflict over this, but I have to register my disagreement with the guideline being broken. Stefen Towers among the rest! I asked for guideline assistance on this, and was pointed to MOS:THENAME, which makes very clear that 'the' is not to be capitalized in this case. Stefen Towers among the rest! GabGruntwerk 23:28, 12 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
