Birth dates? Glamorgan?
editA recent edit gives Glamorgan 1795 and 1797 birth details for the brothers, but the ODNB (2004 edition) says "Mystery surrounds the places and dates of their births..." and "There is no reliable account of the youth and education of the brothers...". Does anyone know more about this? I also wonder about the reference to a sister named Matilda. The ODNB calls her Catherine, and names their mother as Katherine Matilda. It also says Charles' son was Charles Edward Lewis Casimir Stuart (1824–1882). --HJMG 14:22, 12 November 2006 (UTC)
I have read several sources that state the brothers were Welsh. If this is true, it is not a great start to this Wikipedia article (that current states they were English). Jame5 07961 (talk) 10:31, 16 November 2022 (UTC)
Missing controversy
editWe're eliding the fact that their claim to be lost grandsons of Bonnie Prince Charlie was even more controversial than the Vestiarium Scoticum; our article on the latter covers this better than our article on the Sobieski Stuarts. — SMcCandlish ☏ ¢ 😼 18:23, 18 February 2018 (UTC)
- The Wikipedia article makes reference to my contribution to the subject at anthonyjcamp.com/page19.htm but includes little if any of the referenced material there. Perhaps someone should look at that! AnthonyCamp (talk) 09:35, 19 February 2018 (UTC). There is now reference to considerable additional published detail at https://anthonyjcamp.com/pages/anthony-j-camp-sobieski-stuarts. AnthonyCamp (talk) 11:41, 16 November 2022 (UTC).
Under-utilised source
editThe piece by Hugh Trevor-Roper really needs to be mined for more detail. It's quite in-depth on the "Sobieski Stuarts", from p. 31 onward. — SMcCandlish ☏ ¢ 😼 18:32, 6 June 2023 (UTC)
