I would like a source for this. Is it NE? I think it is, but not sure.

Yes, it's mainly from NE.

Scandinavism and Nordism edit

I feel that this article tends to confuse Scandinavism with Nordism. One solution to this problem would be to add a section about Nordism and then move the article to "Scandinavism and Nordism". It is also possible to move the article to "Nordism" and then include Scandinavism as a section. What do you think? I can start the work myself but I feel that I need some support. If Nordism is a separate concept, then it should have a separate article. If they're more or less identical concepts, the most common (Scandinavism) should be the title. The current solution is confusing and I'm moving the article back.
What are the Nordism-related changes based on? References are recommended.

Ugh... The redirect has been fiddled with after the move. Please move the article back through Wikipedia:Requested moves.

What I didn't like with the old version of the article was that no difference was made between Nordism and Scandinavism. They are related to each other, but there are differences (the most obvious being that Nordism covers a bigger geographical area). To be honest, I am far from being an expert on this subject but nobody seemed to be willing to take the first step. Now I hope that sombody with greater knowledge can develop this article. I haven't heard the term "Nordism" before and I'm pretty sure Scandinavism is the word people will search for. The Nordism aspect can be covered in the article and by a redirect. Valentinian (talk) / (contribs) 18:26, 28 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Scandinavianism and Nordism is not the same, since the first only applies to the three Scandinavian countries, while Nordism also includes Finland and Iceland (which are not Scandinavian). Nordism is a broader term than Scandinavianism. --Oddeivind (talk) 15:50, 28 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

Given that they are not the same a split has been proposed. Chiton (talk) 05:04, 28 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

I support a split into two articles. This article still seems to confuse two different concepts. Scandinavism is a cultural movement that emerged in the 18th century and that focused on e.g. shared (Scandinavian) language and history among the three Scandinavian countries. Nordism (which as a term is less known) refers to modern political cooperation among Nordic countries, not necessarily favouring the Scandinavian languages over e.g. the unrelated Finnish language. --Dijhndis (talk) 16:53, 6 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

Concerning alternative name revert edit

The alternate name Pan-Scandinavianism is not limited to EB. It needs to be mentioned or alternative Wiki articles may appear eventually, requiring new mergers. See examples of modern usage in Iceland: "Although he wrote in Danish and was a passionate believer in Pan-Scandinavianism, the unification of the Nordic Countries into a single state, all his novels are set in Iceland", in Australia and in Finland, as well as in a large variety of scholarly articles such as this, as well as usage in different types of books. Pan-Scandinavianism without the "Pan" is is also used, from time, to time, to time. Pia 02:50, 10 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

It strikes me as a very similar and even slightly tautological synonym. You could add "Pan-" to just about any geographical -ism, but that doesn't mean we have have to add a "also called Pan-XXXism" to every imaginable article. What's the point of having it?

NEW FLAG edit

Can someone with good photoshop skills create a new image with todays Swedish and Norwegian flag? Scandinavism is a good thing. Nastykermit

It would be appropriate to mention the Scandinavian Monetary Union, see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scandinavian_Monetary_Union

"Nordism" would include Finland and Iceland, which are not Scandinavian but Nordic countries. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 190.20.209.217 (talk) 19:45, 6 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

The three King meeting edit

The dissolution of the 1905 Swedish-Norwegian union put things in different perspectives, but already by 1914, I think a kind of revival of Scandinavism appeared. The three King's meeting in Malmö for instance (King Gustav V of Sweden, King Christian X of Denmark and (his brother) King Håkon VII of Norway met). Could this possibly be added to the article ? NRM edit

From this article: "Inside the violent and rapidly expanding white supremacist Nordic Resistance Movement which aims to unite Scandinavia with ‘revolution’ into a single far-right republic". Does not get any clearer then that.ApolloCarmb (talk) 14:56, 18 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

@ApolloCarmb: The sun is tabloid... and its use as a reference here should be with much caution. This organisation describes itself as a nordic movement, that includes Finland too. Scandinavianism is about to unite Sweden, Norway and Denmark only. Nordic=/=Scandinavian, do you get it now? Find a statement from a reliable source or the link must go. Shellwood (talk) 15:12, 18 April 2018 (UTC)Reply
Sputnik News also calls it a pan-Scandinavianist party. As does this bookApolloCarmb (talk) 15:19, 18 April 2018 (UTC)Reply
