Syntax. Punctuation. (Marlena Holmes (talk) 16:19, 20 October 2015 (UTC))

unless i'm missing it, i don't see a reference in the discography/article to her appearance on "9", track 2 of willow (smith)'s ep, "3" (2015). it's credited on that ep's track listing as /willow feat. sza' - definitely needs to be listed here. 63.142.146.194 (talk) 12:59, 23 March 2016 (UTC)

SZA (singer)Sza – Does her name stand for anything? It's pronounced "scissa" phonetically, not "S.Z.A." 2601:8C:4001:DCB9:99E2:A3D8:F63D:1A23 (talk) 03:55, 3 September 2017 (UTC)

Well we can't do that as SZA is a dab page, and in serious books SZA still means solar zenith angle. If capitalized then (singer) stays. In ictu oculi (talk) 22:04, 4 September 2017 (UTC)

SzaSZA – "SZA" stands for "sovereign", "zig-zag", "Allah" and acronyms are always capitalized for articles, just like how the RZA article is capitalized (who her name is actually inspired by). It should not have been moved to "Sza". Also there are no other articles directly named "SZA", so this time the name of the article should just be "SZA" instead of "SZA (singer)". — Preceding unsigned comment added by AgWoolridge (talkcontribs) 23:17, 14 September 2017 (UTC)

Follow-up comment: The just-closed discussion might indicate that we should consider a move back to SZA (singer), since we now have an indication that it might be (at least sometimes characterized as) an abbreviation. In a brief look at a few sources, I notice that they generally seem to use the uppercase (and there is a substantial number of such sources that are at least nominally independent and non-promotional). —BarrelProof (talk) 17:31, 23 September 2017 (UTC)

SzaSZA (singer) – My last request was declined so I now think it should just be changed back to "SZA (singer)". As I said, "SZA" stands for "sovereign", "zig-zag", "Allah" and acronyms are always capitalized for articles, just like how the RZA article is capitalized. Date of birth

At this writing, the first line of the text says 1989, but the entry under her photo says 1990. Which is correct? Typofixer76 (talk) 00:13, 29 January 2018 (UTC)

Semi-protected edit request on 19 April 2018

Hello! I feel that my submission would be value in the "Artistry" tab of SZA's page with the following content:

SZA’s music provides a voice for those that go the endless sexual and sensitive phases of relationships and hooking up. The music in Ctrl differs from her previous EP Z, where there are more EDM beats and the lyrical context is more sporadic in its meanings. Ctrl leads listeners on a soulful journey through the hardships of relationships, sexuality, sex appeal, and being a woman within these partnerships. In the song “Broken Clocks”, this narrative of relationships being a never ending “up and down” cycle emotions is conveyed beautifully, being as told in Bitch Media, “the album’s standout track and musical production gem”. Bitch Media provides a correlation with the artistry that SZA and other young black female artist like Solange have, to that of Janet Jackson in that Janet opened the door for these black female artists to express their “gender, sexuality, and manifestations of Blackness” in ways that she did in 1986. (All from https://www.bitchmedia.org/article/sza-ctrl-review) The vulnerability in SZA’s album Ctrl can relate to many women identifying individuals across the world. Her lyrics touch the heart and minds of many that listen and watch her perform, and there is something to be said about that. In an article from Blog: Los Angeles Review of Books, it is noted that the intimacy of a crowd of “mostly black women and femmes” at a SZA show will blow an attendee away. SZA’s music is relatable to many that identify as “feminist” or stand with feminism due to her portrayal as anything but a “Normal Girl” to use one of her song titles off of the recent album. This notion of a “normal girl” is challenged by SZA singing, “I’ll never be, I’ll never be” and “No fantasy, no fantasy”, meaning that she will never conform to what society deems to be “normal” but that she will be ok “this time next year”. SZA identifies as a black queer woman in her song “Love Galore” when she sings, “Love to my ladies, I’ve dated a few”, and is unapologetic in doing so, as well as her expression of sexual acts. The song “Doves in the Wind” with fellow TDE label-mate, Kendrick Lamar, is essentially an anthem about women being in control of their bodies and what they choose to do with it and who to do it with. DOB

Hi I was patrolling recent edits to pages and found this one. After a lot of edit warring over whether she was born in 1999, 1989 or 1990 I requested Page Protection. I found two reliable sources stating she was born in 1990. However, there are some unreliable sources that state 1989 and her z EP does have '1989' written on the cover. Although this was released years before the articles I have cited. Should we add a disclaimer, add both years or remove the year entirely? I would personally leave as is but wanted to open the forum.

Cheers, AussieWikiDan (talk) 16:19, 2 October 2020 (UTC)

She was born in 1989 she’s said it in an interview before. Stop changing others edits to 1989 because they are correct. You are not. Dashboysixbelow (talk) 17:06, 2 October 2020 (UTC)

I am open to being proven wrong, I am just looking at this objectively. Wikipedia needs reliable citations, especially for biographies of living persons, see WP:BLP. AussieWikiDan (talk) 17:27, 2 October 2020 (UTC)

She was born in 1989. She made a tweet herself claiming she was 24 in May 2014, over six years ago. https://twitter.com/sza/status/470320294117511169

The tweet links to a post on her Tumblr https://web.archive.org/web/20150310000657/https://seeszarun.tumblr.com/post/86519308297/these-photos-span-over-about-the-last-6-years — Preceding unsigned comment added by Raf3020 (talkcontribs) 23:34, 3 October 2020 (UTC)

When will her date of birth be changed? There’s multiple proof that she was born in 1989. JayOntherun (talk) 01:21, 4 October 2020 (UTC)

Hi Raf3020, thanks for that. The links are a bit ambiguous but it does cast doubt on her birth year. I think maybe the article should state both years. If there is any doubt, it should be clearly stated with biographies of living people. AussieWikiDan (talk) 02:50, 4 October 2020 (UTC)

birth year

the wiki page lists SZA as being born in both 1989 and 1990. What's her real birth year‽ 108.49.52.105 (talk) 15:43, 14 September 2021 (UTC)

Per Complex,[1] Billboard,[2] and Rolling Stone,[3] SZA was 23 prior to her November 8 birthday in 2013, at which point she would have been 24. That places her birth year in 1989. General Ization Talk 00:01, 13 December 2021 (UTC)
