The Regatta is not continuous edit

Despite popular belief, the Royal St. John's regatta is not the oldest continuous annual sporting event in North America. It may be the oldest sporting event in North America, but it has only been held continuously since 1940. According to this you can see the years it was not held, and thus, was not continuous. I do not want to get into a revert war over this so hopefully people will visit this talk page.

Here are some of the years it was not held: 1820; 1830; 1837; 1846; 1861 until 1871; 1892; 1915-1918; 1940

Copied content? edit

OK, a whole lot of this page has identical text with the history page on the official Regatta site: http://www.stjohnsregatta.org/history.jsf. I will take it out until it can be established as not a copyvio. 174.88.10.35 (talk) 01:53, 31 July 2011 (UTC)Reply
