Unreferenced & NPOV

I added the Unreferenced and NPOV templates to the page, as this article needs a lot of work. Not a single reference is included, and the article takes an almost wholly negative tone toward the subject. Yes, he is a convicted serial killer, but this article needs to tell his story without bias. Weathermandan (talk) 06:55, 1 January 2008 (UTC)

Pretty hard to say anything good about a guy who kidnapped girls, flew them into the Alaskas wilderness, turned them loose and hunted them. You could say he was creative or a good marksman.Spoonkymonkey (talk) 15:36, 8 March 2008 (UTC)

Plagiarized

I find it quite likely that the opposite is in fact true. You can see that the bulk of the article text was written between the 24th and 28th of March, 2006. From there, little changed until 03:16, 22 May 2007. This was the final revision before the Robert Hanson article was created at the 'panache report' site, on the 31st of May 2007.

As you can see, the text of the article seems to have been copied from Wikipedia with some grammatical changes. The smoking gun is here- if the anonymous IP editor who wrote much of our article had been 'sneakily plagiarizing', they would have got Hanson's place of birth right (or at least identical to the article text) from the start.

If anything the Foundation should be investigating legal avenues against these people. The typical Wikipedia Manual Of Style-influenced intros are obvious giveaways that many of the other articles on the site have been copied. This is an old, old discussion, but since no one else said it... there's no rule against people copying and using Wikipedia articles on their own sites, as long as they follow Wikipedia's rules for doing so. Nate Haskell on CSI

Anyone else notice he looks exactly like Nate Haskell, the serial killer from seasons 9 through 11, played by Bill Irwin? Probably coincidence, but really eerie! 82.23.20.185 (talk) 00:04, 22 November 2012 (UTC)

I don't watch the show, but middle aged average looking white males are pretty much the standard profile for serial killers, both in the media and in real life. It's certainly not something I would mention in an article unless there was a source specifying that Hansen was the inspiration for the character. Beeblebrox (talk) 00:19, 22 November 2012 (UTC)

Discrepancy in acknowledged vs denied crimes

The list says that he adknowledged 14 killings and denied 3, while elsewhere in the article is said that he adknowledged 15 and denied 2. Furthermore, why is he believed to have killed 21 total? Does police believe he did, is he a suspect in 5 additional missing cases? The article doesn't say.--Menah the Great (talk) 03:20, 23 November 2013 (UTC)

Date apprehended

This article identifies the date apprehended as June 13, 1983, which is the date when Cindy Paulson escaped. But, the date of the search warrant wasn't executed until October 27, 1983. Was Hansen arrested as early as June 13? John.Farquhar (talk) 17:07, 26 May 2014 (UTC)

InfoBox apprehended date

The infobox lists the date he was apprehended as 1983-Jun-13, but that is the date that Paulson escaped. It wasn't until late October that year that a search warrant and search of his properties were conducted, so his apprehension would seem to be more likely to be late October, or perhaps early November (you can't arrest someone and wait almost 5 months to begin investigating the basis of the arrest). Infobox information seems to be incorrect regarding his apprehension. — al-Shimoni (talk) 15:11, 19 March 2016 (UTC)

Citations incorrect (perhaps wrong page?)

Citations #3 and 4 to page 96 of the DuClos book are incorrect - the page is previewed if you follow but NONE of that information is corroborated on p. 96 or 97 where it takes you. The Super Cub

In the Imprisonment section, it is currently stated that "... he used the proceeds to purchase the Super Cub". However, there's no other mention of "Super Cub" in the article. Should the Super Cub be mentioned prior to that? If not, should this be changed to "a Super Cub" (preferably with further details to make it clear what Super Cub means - is it a motorcycle? As my dad flew small planes for a living for 18 years, this is a no-brainer to me. "Super Cub" refers to the Piper PA-18 Super Cub. His notoriety is based on flying around with his victims, with one in particular escaping from him while he was readying himself for takeoff at Merrill Field, which contributed to his eventual apprehension. "Life sentence"

From the same section referred to in the previous thread: "Hansen was sentenced by jury to 461 years plus life in prison". This needs a source or explanation. Alaska does not hand out life sentences, period, full stop. The maximum sentence for any single offense is 99 years, period, full stop. The news media is fond of colloquially referring to lengthy sentences as "life sentences". However, there's a difference grounded in fact between a life sentence and a fixed sentence so lengthy that there's no conceivable chance of the person going free before expiring. Was he concurrently prosecuted and tried by the federal government? I can see him also receiving a life sentence if that were the case. Maxine Farrell

Why isn't there any mention of the contribution of Maxine Farrell?

The recent Discovery+ documentary The Butcher Baker shows she provided Flothe with the files he needed to start the Task Force.
