Move

I suggest moving this to either Reading Green Park railway station or Reading GreenPark railway station. Any thoughts? Anywikiuser (talk) 19:28, 18 April 2008 (UTC)

I would support the latter. The current name seems to be inconsistent with other UK railway station names. However, until the proposal is finalised and the name is confirmed, it may be better to keep it at its current name — far more articles link to Green Park (Reading) railway station than the redirect Reading GreenPark railway station. haz (talk) 12:58, 20 May 2008 (UTC)

I moved it to this current name because it seemed at the time that the station was only going to be called Green Park, therefore i was disambiguating from other meanings. Simply south (talk) 14:10, 20 May 2008 (UTC)

The problem is that the station is going to be called (as far as I know) Reading GreenPark, not Green Park with brackets to show that it's in Reading. Also, it's GreenPark not Green Park (although this may change on opening). Anywikiuser (talk) 19:08, 19 June 2008 (UTC)

Amended opening date

Network Rail in June 2021 are now saying that because of the Covid-19 pandemic, it will be 2022 before the station opens.

Could someone with a far better understanding about computer links to such a report than I, be so kind as to update the article with this new information.

@Xenophon Philosopher: Thanks for pointing this out. I have updated the section of the Article, and cited a Berkshire Live report of the Network Rail announcement. I hope I have done so in such a way that the destination page will be archived if the link itself goes dead. Though would we necessarily want to include the full history of the projected completion dates when the station eventually opens?Ntmr (talk) 13:32, 29 June 2021 (UTC)

Building in phases

The article still refers to the 2015 intention to build the station in four phases. Is anyone able to clarify, with appropriate citations, what stage will have been reached when the station is eventually opened in 2022? Do the works in progress include only Phase One, or do they also extend to other phases?Ntmr (talk) 15:17, 14 September 2021 (UTC)

@Ntmr: Unfortunately I can find no definitive cites. However the pace of development of the surrounding residential development means that the road that was to have been used to access the station during phases 1 and 2 no longer exists, so the phases are clearly no longer as they were. Without a cite and with the work still unfinished and not accessible, it is hard to know what to change. I thought I'd wait until it actually opened, which hopefully will provide some decent citable coverage of what is actually there. -- chris_j_wood (talk) 16:36, 11 April 2022 (UTC)

Can anyone provide properly referenced confirmation of which phases have been completed? It is clear that Phase 4 has not been built, as there is no multi-storey car park, but when I visited the station I didn't note the number of bus bays, etc., and in any event to include my observations would be original research! I suspect that Phases One to Three have substantially been built, though possibly not exactly as projected in 2016. Ntmr (talk) 11:59, 27 July 2023 (UTC)

The aerial pictures on the BBC website (which would presumably be a citable source?) show 3 bus bays, and perhaps 60 car parking spaces - certainly not as many as 103. Ntmr (talk) 12:57, 27 July 2023 (UTC)

This railway station is now open

I have just seen this question whilst adding to the Talk page. The reason was that the stop was being advertised at Reading Station (and on the onboard indicator on Reading - Basingstoke trains) before the station was actually open! The opening ceremony was on 25 May, but it definitely first opened to the public on Saturday, 27 May. Ntmr (talk) 12:11, 27 July 2023 (UTC)

Platform Length

Could the platform lengths be given in metres and yards/feet for people who don't understand how long a coach is. Also coaches can have different lengths so by using the phrase 6 coaches, this means that people don't know how long it is in a more common unit such as metres or yards/feet. Depending on vegetation, you might want to get a more inclusive shot of the whole station, such as from the railway bridge on Kirtons Farm Road, e.g something like this showing the concourse, station building, footbridge and platforms. Bus connections
