Merge & Name Change edit

Merge edit

I'm not sure there's a need for a seperate page for the Ravenglass railway station (R&ER). The two stations are essentially one and the same and encyclopedia users would probably be better served by having the information on one page: it makes navigation easier. The two pages are not particularly large either, so that wouldn't be a problem. I don't envisage anyone having great problems with this, but I'll leave the proposal to merge hanging for a couple of days just in case. --Pretty Green (talk) 09:49, 26 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

If they are effectively the same station and next to each other then go ahead. Simply south (talk) 12:46, 26 May 2008 (UTC)Reply
Yeah; see this overhead photo to confirm, the national rail line is on the right, the Ravenglass&Eskdale railway is on the left. --Pretty Green (talk) 23:32, 26 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Rename edit

Whilst I'm at it, I think I'll move the new merged article to Ravenglass for Eskdale railway station. Does anyone object to this? It's the name used on the National Rail page and at Northern Rail's website. --Pretty Green (talk) 09:53, 26 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

I oppose the rename as it was already renamed following announcement and it seems most stations go by their new name instead of their other name (at least here). Simply south (talk) 12:46, 26 May 2008 (UTC)Reply
Ah, I hadn't noticed that it had previously been moved here; given that this would also make a move more complex than a simple 'press-move-button' operation I'd also be inclined to leave it here. --Pretty Green (talk) 23:34, 26 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Infobox problem edit

Although the two stations are merged in some senses, administratively they are not, and the Infobox is, as far as I can tell, not capable of reflecting this (e.g. 2 standard-gauge and 3 narrow-gauge platforms). In particular, the passenger numbers, for the mainline station, do not come close to reflecting numbers for the Eskdale station. Any ideas for ways round this? — Preceding unsigned comment added by David Trochos (talkcontribs) 20:13, 28 February 2010‎ (UTC)Reply
