Talk:Princess Frederica of Prussia, Duchess of Anhalt-Dessau

Name Question

edit

Can anyone directly confirm her full name? I am enquiring because de.Wikipedia has a noticably different name than en.Wikipedia.-- OsirisV (talk) 15:38, 17 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

According to the Peerage ([1]), her full name is Friederike Wilhelmina Luise Amalie. The Peerage uses as its source: C. Arnold McNaughton, The Book of Kings: A Royal Genealogy. The name was anglisized for the English Wikipedia. As for the difference from the German Wiki in the order of names, I can only say that either she went by both, or there was a mistake in the German article. Hope that clarifies everything. Thank you for the quick response. I noticed this when I looked at the section of the infobox noting her German name and I decided to compare the article with the German version.-- OsirisV (talk) 15:53, 17 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Portrait Identification

edit

We have a HUGE problem here -- both Frederica of Prussia and her mother, Frederica of Mecklenburg, have this as their portrait and it just confused me to the point of changing a few things around on several pages (as I thought it was linking to the same page). This portrait of Frederica of Prussia, uses an unknown page with no sources which states it's the Princess of Prussia Duchess of Anhalt. This portrait, the Queen of Hanover (Frederica of Prussia's mother), uses Facebook as its source for the portrait Queen of Hanover. So which is which? -- Lady Meg (talk) 03:51, 19 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

Princess Frederica of Prussia (1796–1850)Princess Frederica of PrussiaWP:OVERDAB. She was the only Prussian princess known as just "Frederica". The others were Princess Frederica Charlotte of Prussia and Princess Friederike Luise of Prussia. Any confusion between the three should be resolved by the hatnote to the dab page. estar8806 (talk) 11:32, 7 September 2023 (UTC) — Relisting. UtherSRG (talk) 16:07, 19 September 2023 (UTC)Reply

  • Comment A hatnote would be enough for the purpose of disambiguation in this scenario. No need for the years and numbers. EDIT: DrKay pointed out there are other individuals with the same name, so maybe we should avoid giving unreasonable prominence to one person? Keivan.fTalk 12:06, 7 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
