Because the Orleanists in the 1870s recognised Chambord's claim to the throne as senior, in return for Chambord recognising the Orleanist succession. Or something similar. Lines of succession are often far more convoluted than they first appear. Timrollpickering 17:10, 12 July 2006 (UTC)Reply
