Talk:Pokémon the Series: Diamond and Pearl

Consistency problems edit

There seems to be an inconsistency with what this article is calling Ash/Satoshi. In some parts it's calling him Ash, in others it's calling him Satoshi, and sometimes they call him both in the same part. Can we make up our mind as to whether we're calling him Ash after the American name for the character, or Satoshi for the Japanese name? - Sabishii Kouen 02:52, 7 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Yes, I agree. We should use the American names since this series has already been licensed in America and it will soon air. --(十八|talk) 03:58, 7 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

edit

I was wondering if we could get both the japanese logo as well as the english version. I would do it but Im still not great on editing wikipedia.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.167.214.95 (talkcontribs)

Episode Numbers? edit

Why does this page and Pokémon:_Diamond_and_Pearl_series start the series on 468? My archive and this page show Diamond & Pearl starting at 469. --Neil 19:25, 24 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

I've now set the ep. numbers to those that I think are correct. This list now doesn't match the main list, though, as there's now an extra episode in there ("Hikari, Nozomi and a Double Performance!!")! --Neil 07:26, 20 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Summaries edit

I think the page doesn't need the episode summaries. For me i use dail-up and it takes forever to load espcally sense all those summaries. —Preceding unsigned comment added by GOALToshin (talkcontribs) 22:02, 12 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

So? They 'are' needed, there are no reasons not to have them. I use dial-up, as well, and it's just fine. The problem isn't the summaries, it's the computer. If you want it to load faster, get a new one. Dur.... Mack-the-random (talk) 03:32, 30 November 2007 (UTC)Reply
The summary field is included in the episode template for the specific purpose to include summaries. That's why it's there.-- 03:57, 30 November 2007 (UTC)Reply
Some definitely should be shortened, though.—Loveはドコ? (talkcontribs) 04:10, 30 November 2007 (UTC)Reply
They are not needed. Its a waste of space. Taiketsu
The page was 40,223 bytes and now its down to 21,773 bytes, and without the summaries the page looks much cleaner. Taiketsu
You do realize that you are taking it upon yourself to go against what is standard, and without drawing up a consensus on an obviously controversal edit right?-- 20:20, 13 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
  • Which verison do you like? Taiketsu —Preceding comment was added at 20:23, 13 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
Personally, I like the summaries. Other long lists include the summaries like List of Naruto episodes (seasons 1-2), List of InuYasha episodes, or List of Bleach The Bount arc episodes. They include summaries because it is a standard feature of the template, and is the reason the field is there. It wouldn't make sense to just remove the summaries from this list and keep all the other ones, especially if there's been no real dissucion on the matter aside from a bunch of edit warring I can see in the history.-- 20:28, 13 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
What he said. Wikipedia isn't about being clear, it's Encyclopedia after all.AnarkiQ3 (talk) 20:38, 13 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
People can go to Bulbapedia for the episode summaries. Wikipedia is not a fan site so the episode list should only include the episode title JP/US and the JP/US airdates. Taiketsu
There's no reason to just delete the only information in the article that makes this article of any use. If anything, just shorten the summaries. According to the episode template's talk page, "if possible, keep summaries under three or four sentences."—Loveはドコ? (talkcontribs) 00:51, 14 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
User:Taiketsu has already broken WP:RRR; I think this may have to go to WP:AN3 if this goes any further without any real discussion...-- 01:01, 14 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
I'm currently filing a WP:3RR report on Taiketsu now. The user continued to revert after a 3RR warning was posted on their talk page. MelicansMatkin (talk) 01:11, 14 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
Sorry for how i acted. It's o.k to keep the summaries. Taiketsu —Preceding comment was added at 13:38, 15 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:PKMN dp logo.jpg edit

Image:PKMN dp logo.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Air Dates edit

most people think that you should only put the current air dates but I think ........... 141.151.90.105 22:50, 12 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

WP:OR. You can't assume those'll be the proper airdates if they haven't been announced. You don't know if there'll be a hiatus at some point.—Loveはドコ? (talkcontribs) 22:51, 12 November 2007 (UTC)Reply
I agree with Urutap; if it has not been confirmed, it does not belong here until such a time where it is confirmed. MelicansMatkin 23:00, 12 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Listen I will put the air dates here and if you have a problem talk to me via MY TALK PAGE 141.151.72.22 (talk) 11:52, 23 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Actually, the place to discuss it would be here, on the relevant talk page. MelicansMatkin (talk) 16:09, 23 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Japan/US/Canada edit

I changed "Dub air date" to "US air date". I did this because the dub is also shown in Canada, but we do not have the same air dates--we are behind. I think this is the right edit, if not please tell me why here instead of just changing it without an explanation. Also, should Canada air date be added too? FogDevil (talk) 20:22, 10 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

The air dates are for the first time that the episode was aired in that format. That is to say, it should remain as "Dub air date", because it is the first date that it was aired that is listed, and the country that it aired in doesn't matter. Canada's air date should not be added, and neither should other countries such as Italy; US air date should probably be changed back to Dub air date as well. MelicansMatkin (talk) 20:42, 10 December 2007 (UTC)Reply
Ah ha! Thanks and will do. FogDevil (talk) 22:43, 10 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Episode titles edit

  • がんばる, 頑張る = You Can Do It, hang out, work hard
  • ふたたび, 再び = Again
  • 大丈夫 = no problem, Are you OK? , Are you all right
  • 四天王 = Four Heavenly Kings

What to do now edit

Okay, so Pokemon.com calls Season 10 of Pokémon 51 episodes, and ending at "Smells Like Team Spirit!" So how is it going to affect the article? Matty-chan (talk) 16:23, 8 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

It doesn't affect it too much. We just split the chart into two where Season 10 ends and Season 11 begins. In fact, I've just done that and formatted the reference that was provided. MelicansMatkin (talk) 16:45, 8 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Pulse Bomb or Wave Shot edit

Pulse Bomb is the correct translation.

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=Pokemon+Pulse+Bomb&btnG=Search

  • Dragon PULSE-----------りゅうのはどう its not Dragon Wave
  • Dark PULSE-------------あくのはどう its not Dark Wave
  • Water PULSE------------みずのはどう its not Water Wave
  • PULSE Bomb-------------はどうだん its not Wave Shot (shot: 発砲{はっぽう}、発射)
  • Bomb - 爆弾 (ばくだん) ---->
  • Pulse -

Most, if not all, of those websites listed in the Google search are unverifiable, unreliable, and fail WP:FANSITE. Those sources cannot work for the purpose of this discussion. A most-used translation does not equal a correct translation, especially if it is taken from the incorrect Serebii translations. MelicansMatkin (talk) 02:19, 7 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
http://www.alc.co.jp/ —Preceding unsigned comment added by Taiketsu (talkcontribs) 02:21, 7 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
That source contains no English translations. There is no purpose in providing this link if it does not contribute to the discussion. MelicansMatkin (talk) 02:24, 7 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
That is where i got 爆弾 (ばくだん) and 波動 (はどう). IT's a bomb because in the anime they explode http://www.serebii.net/anime/pictures/shinou/534/DP42.jpg. (Taiketsu (talk) 02:25, 7 March 2008 (UTC))Reply
Water Gun made Rocket-Dan's balloon explode. Does that make it a bomb? No, it doesn't. -Sukecchi (talk) 17:30, 7 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
And it still involves no English translation, meaning that your translation from this page consists of pure WP:OR. Serebii.net fails WP:V, WP:RS, and WP:FANSITE. MelicansMatkin (talk) 02:29, 7 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

波動+弾=波動弾(はどうだん) ==== THIS IS THE RESEARCH. USING A JAPANESE TRANSLATOR/DICTIONARY (Taiketsu (talk) 02:30, 7 March 2008 (UTC))Reply
And it's your own research which still fails WP:OR. None of this excuses a violation of WP:3RR. MelicansMatkin (talk) 02:38, 7 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
So what is fails WP:OR. I take a Japaneses class. (Taiketsu (talk) 02:43, 7 March 2008 (UTC))Reply

So WP:OR is a core Wikipedia policy. There are many other people who take Japanese classes and have a different translation from you. If it fails WP:OR and cannot be reliably sourced, it has no place on Wikipedia. MelicansMatkin (talk) 02:49, 7 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Here's the point, Taiketsu. Lucario has its own unique hadō. It's been officially translated inside of Japan as "wave". What is the logical conclusion when Lucario of all people shows up with an attack named hadō?—Loveはドコ? (talkcontribs) 03:40, 7 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
はどう also does mean wave; i.e., Wikipedia's wave page is interwiki'd to the Japanese page 波動 (はどう).—Loveはドコ? (talkcontribs) 06:43, 7 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Various blocks edit

Various people have been blocked for various amounts of time for various violations of the 3RR on this page. Please discuss rather than blandly reverting, or request protection if the page continues to be subject to edit warring. Stifle (talk) 08:59, 7 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

First episode of Season 10 (description) edit

"Dawn then sees Mesprit Piplup and decides to keep it as her first Pokémon." That doesn't sound quite right to me. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.218.12.31 (talk) 19:33, 26 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Battle Dimension episodes edit

Shouldn't the Battle Dimension episode list be its own article? I mean, we have a list for the seperate Advanced seasons... but if not, maybe we should merge the Advanced seasons into one article, like "List of Pokémon: Advanced Generation episodes" and possibly the first 5 seasons ("List of Pokémon episodes: Original Series"? We could have it set up like this, with the USA season/title numbers. Matty-chan (talk) 01:32, 30 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Kanji titles from Summer arc to turtwig family episodes edit

Why did the readable kanji titles from the summer school course to the turtwig episodes get removed? How do I find a website where I can get the correct ones?--Wikialexdx (talk) 17:13, 27 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

What in Tarnation? edit

Why? Why do people keep on putting in fake titles such as Holy Blaze? They would block those people on Bulbapedia, where I edit as well. FearFactorPhony (talk) 00:38, 10 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
