Stylistic problems

edit

This article reads like a high school essay rather than an encyclopedia article. It relies too heavily on random quotes from academics (including quotes of questions posed by academics!) and has a prose style that isn’t suitable for Wikipedia. Beyond that, there are many grammatical errors, sentence fragments and parts that just don’t make sense at all. The content overall is worth keeping but it needs a lot of rework.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 171.255.135.198 (talkcontribs) 18:14, 2 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

Dear anon in Vietnam, thanks, but no thanks. You do not know what you are talking about: if you see minor errors you think need correcting, then you can fix that, As for tone, etc., please see WP:SUMMARY. Cheers, ——Serial 17:39, 2 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

Anon in Vietnam is actually pretty right about that, Serial Number 54129 (talk · contribs). Also, I found indirect quotes in which one academic is quoting another, and an in-text reference to "Duke" while the citation is to "Dukes". I also second the finding of verbosity. I am flagging the article as in need of expert attention for focus and incomplete citations (who is Duke or Dukes?) It also still needs an edit for pervasive incorrect verb tenses, but I just don't have time for that especially since it will still need an edit for focus and citations. Please do prune it for relevancy however if this seems applicable) Elinruby (talk) 01:54, 4 October 2022 (UTC)Reply

I agree that pruning would be nice; perhaps to around 8,000 words is possible? SN54129 14:01, 9 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
