Official name spelling, Park Hyun-bem, Not beom — Preceding unsigned comment added by Footwiks (talkcontribs) 10:20, 19 December 2018 (UTC) --Relisting. SITH (talk) 15:16, 29 December 2018 (UTC)Reply

Comment: It doesnt matter what is official or not, the article title should be what the majority of English-langauge sources are using even if this name is de facto wrong, see his profiles 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 etc. Snowflake91 (talk) 10:25, 23 December 2018 (UTC)Reply
Also, Many English-langauge sources are using Park Hyun-bem. Let's serch in Google. https://www.google.co.kr/search?q=Park+Hyun-bem&ei=_0oiXNvxNsKY8QXOpoeICg&start=0&sa=N&ved=0ahUKEwib7ZynpLvfAhVCTLwKHU7TAaE4ChDy0wMIaQ&cshid=1545751507430001&biw=1920&bih=938
Actually, I don't understand what you mean. I think It does matter. Name is proper noun. South Korean's name is as much important as Western people's name.
Do you think that below process is right?
Ignorant English press used wrong spell of name. => Ignorant English user used wrong spell in Wikipedia. => Based on Wikipedia, Ignorant English press used wrong spell again => Finally, Wrong spell is common name. So Keep wrong spell in Wikipedia.
This is Circular reasoning and Westerners Supremacy and Weak point of English wikipedia.
Let's assume that, Not Unknowns South Korean player, Famous Western Football player, Wrong spell of name will be not happen and If happen, will be corrected quickly.
While wikipedia favor common names, that should not be on the expense on accuracy. Park Hyun-beom is not common name. South Korean unknown football player's wrong name was just spread by Ignorant English press

Literally half results for "Park Hyun-bem" on Google are FIFA 18 or Pro Evolution Soccer related mods/stats, so not really reliable. "Ignorant English press used wrong spell of name --> the wrong name became the common name"; even if this is true it is not really our problem, blame the media not Wikipedia, the WP:COMMONNAME applies there. And media just uses what was written in official fifa match reports while he played for Korea, so its Korean national team fault if they didnt register the player with correct name back in 2009 (or Suwon registered him as Hyun-beom when he played in the AFC CL). Snowflake91 (talk) 18:56, 25 December 2018 (UTC)Reply
You are misunderstood the rull of WP:COMMONNAME. Check out again. Republic of Korea (Official name) / South Korea (Common name). So English Wikipedia can choose as South Korea in Title.
Republic of Korea (Official name) / Republic of Kolea (Many Stupid English Press used it). Is Republic of Kolea common name? Is spelling mistake name Common name? This is a just spread of mistake by English Media.
This is very crucial problem in English Wikipedia. We found mistake and we can correct this very easily. But Spelling mistake name is common name so we have to use spelling mistake name forever. Do you think that this is reasonable? Is this power of Collective intelligence in English Wikipedi? Person's name is Proper Noun. Name spelling is a kind of record. Let's assume that many English stupid media had wrong goal stats of Park Hyun-bem. But I found this and I corrected them. But You insist that Many English media had wrong goal stats and wrong goal stats are common. No problem and It doen't matter. They are much the same thing.
Honestly, I can't understand why I discuss about this issue.
Anyway, Reliabe souces are using Park Hyun-bem a lot.
  • Most Reliable souces are KFA and K League. KFA and K League used Park Hyun-bem.
  • 2007 U-20 FIFA World Cup Match Report: KFA registered as correct name. Download Official Match Report PDF
  • South Korea's English Newspaper used Park Hyun-bem [1][2]
  • Goal.com [3]
  • ESPN [4]
Footwiks (talk) 10:48, 26 December 2018 (UTC)Reply
That same ESPN source also uses Hyun-beom, see ESPN profile. And this is not a typo or mistake by the media, the problem is romanization – "bem" is Yale romanization of Korean, while "beom" is Revised Romanization. Snowflake91 (talk) 12:41, 26 December 2018 (UTC)Reply

I find the above very hard to follow. There's at least one failure to sign and without a timestamp I can't identify it in the page history, I tried and it looked easy but it wasn't. I suspect there are many other violations of the talk page guidelines. Andrewa (talk) 21:50, 26 December 2018 (UTC)Reply

I fixed everyone's indentation per Wikipedia:Refactoring talk pages. I don't think there were any unsigned comments, just an undated comment and single comments that accidentally looked like two different people made them because the comment started at one indentation level but ended at another. 59.149.124.29 (talk) 00:32, 27 December 2018 (UTC)Reply
Thank you! Much better but I still find it hard to follow, and am unconvinced that there's any case to answer but perhaps it's just because of that. So no change of !vote, as of yet anyway. Andrewa (talk) 15:40, 29 December 2018 (UTC)Reply
