Classification of the Roman Trilogy

edit

This article calls them symphonic poems. I would have called them orchestral suites, seeing as they are multi-movement works arranged around a common theme and it's a form he would have known well from his baroque study... I am surprised to see that the liner notes of the one Respighi CD in my collection also call them "3 symphonic poems." Anyone else care to chime in with an opinion? Are there any other examples that are so called? Ma Vlast, for instance, consists of 6 symphonic poems but I can't imagine calling the whole cycle "a symphonic poem." 216.67.33.87 05:56, 30 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Unlike Ma Vlast, the movements of the three Respighi works are fairly short, not independent, and lead directly to the next. They do not stand alone. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.158.131.87 (talk) 01:59, 27 November 2013 (UTC)Reply

Missing sections

edit

There is relatively little description of the composer’s musical style and critical responses to it, or his musical legacy (students, influence, etc.). Reify-tech (talk) 00:08, 14 February 2018 (UTC)Reply

@Reify-tech: There is unfortunately very few WP:RS on the subject matter, but I'll see what I can do in the future. Newspapers.com has thousands of newspapers on Respighi. Wretchskull (alt) (talk) 11:27, 29 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

Interesting info

If anyone is keen on adding a bit more about Respighi, here is a ref about him meeting Einstein and talking about the theory of relativity, his relationship with his wife, as well as his class. Wretchskull (alt) (talk) 11:37, 29 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

Signature

edit

Are we supposed to assume that the signature posted is his? There's nothing to indicate the source of the signature; i.e. from what document it was scanned. Anybody could "forge" a signature, post it to a biographical site, and coast on the notion that it would just be assumed that the signature was said person's. I could easily scrawl "Tutankhamun" and post it to the Tutankhamun page without citation where it would be assumed to be his signature? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2600:1700:5d50:cfd0:58d5:5f37:1b0e:8bf2 (talk) 06:23, 12 February 2022 (UTC)Reply
