Evidence of longstanding claim? edit

Is there evidence of a longstanding claim of Nuttby as highest? As far back as 1975, maps have shown otherwise. See the following National Geographic map, which shows Higgins as 1225 ft and Nuttby as 1204 ft:

I would like to remove the text "Its longstanding claim to be the highest peak was disputed in 2017". Published documentation contradicts the idea that there was a longstanding claim. Local opinion that Nuttby was tallest isn't relevant. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Twendai (talkcontribs) 13:17, 29 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

It is more than 'local opinion'. I have always been led to believe Nuttby was the high spot since I moved to the province 20 years ago. There are so many references to Nuttby being the highest that I think the issue needs to be addressed in the article somehow, otherwise someone is going to come along and make the claim all over again. The best ref I can come up with is the external link from the first creation of this page in 2007, namely [1]. Notice that they pegged Higgins at only 355m. I can't explain how the error has been allowed to carry on so long, but it would be a mistake to ignore it altogether, and in some ways is significant in its own right.
