Lead section edit

Normally, the lead section should summarise the main points of the article and provide context for the topic. It should also comply with the Manual of Style guidelines for lead sections.

The current lead section is too short and does not mention some important aspects of the Ngwa people, such as their history, culture, religion, and economy. It also does not explain what the Ngwa clan is and how it relates to the Ngwa people.

Please, expanding the lead section to include more information and references from the article body. --Vanderwaalforces (talk) 18:27, 13 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

Forgot to ping, Vanderwaalforces, this is   Done. Best, Reading Beans (talk) 03:19, 16 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

History edit

The history section should provide a comprehensive and chronological overview of the Ngwa people’s history, from their origin to the present day. It should also cite reliable sources to verify the information and avoid original research or biased claims.

The current history section is too brief and incomplete, and does not cover some significant events and periods in the Ngwa people's history, such as their migration from Umunoha, their involvement in the slave trade and the Aro wars, their resistance to British colonialism, their role in the Nigerian Civil War, and their post-independence development and challenges. It also lacks citations and references to support the statements. Please, add more details and sources to the history section, and divide it into subsections for clarity and organisation. Divide into subsections Origin and migration, Slave trade and Aro wars, Colonial era and Nigerian Civil War.--Vanderwaalforces (talk) 18:39, 13 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

Done. I worked on what was available from the sources I have. Finding sources from Nigerian newspapers for the present-day Ngwa people have proved abortive. Some sources I read said that the Ekumeku War made some Igbo clan less resistant to the British (plus the Anglo-Aro war which broke the Aro monopoly). There are no sources which gives specific details about the involvement of the Ngwa people in the Nigerian Civil War.
I would appreciate a citation needed tag for statements you think that it needs to be sourced. All statements are sourced either as a paragraph or in-line.
The history has been divided into two, there are insufficient books to divide into such sections. Best, Reading Beans (talk) 18:07, 14 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

See also edit

Can you add useful links to this section. The see also section is supposed to contain only existing Wikipedia articles/lists and not redlinks per "The "See also" section should not include red links" at WP:SEEALSO. Or better, remove the section entirely as it is not required. Intentional ping @Reading Beans:.

Done — I removed section. I thought I would develop the page before now.

  • ... that Ngwa people are the largest clan in Igboland? Source: Oriji, J. N. (1981). "The Ngwa-Igbo Clan of Southeastern Nigeria: An Oral History Overview". The Oral History Review. 9. Taylor & Francis, Ltd: 65. doi:10.1093/ohr/9.1.65. JSTOR 3675325. And yet, my research has shown that the Ngwa, the largest clan in Igboland, possess complex traditions which are invaluable for reconstructing their oral history.
