Talk:NASA Railroad

Nice start edit

Very cool new article. I had absolutely no idea that this existed!   Anyway, the real reason that I'm posting is to point out this site: The Yard Limit. I'd help out directly here (and I probably will, later) but I'm slightly busy with the main NASA article right at the moment. This site should at least allow a secondary source, though.

When was the beach side pulled up? edit

The NASA Railway is left semi-intact westward from the road junction at Playlandia Beach Rd., although in very bad condition, Google sat view shows a number of apparent washouts. It is in similar condition from where it runs southward off the beach just north of the LC-48 site.

Does anyone know when the section between those two points was lifted? The article suggests this occurred in 2016, but the condition of the remaining bits of this section suggests it has been out of use much longer than that.

I am also curious if remaining upper section of the east leg will be put into service for Starship, whose pad runs right along it. Or is this to be completely truck-serviced? Maury Markowitz (talk) 16:13, 30 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
