Is this personal notable?
editFor notability we need significant coverage that is independent of the source. My quick survey is that most of the sources for this article are not:
- Independent of the topic of the article (mainly it the May Golan being quoted in passing, not articles about May Golan)
- and this in English language wiki and I am troubled that the bulk of the sources seem to be in Hebrew (it looks like only one article is from an english language source). If this person is notable for english language users, shouldn't we have more sources in English? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Shiva.TheDeleter (talk • contribs) 20:06, 3 April 2019 (UTC)
Concerns about NPV and the May Golan page
editThis is the original version of the page Avaya1 created for May Golan. Avaya1 keeps deleting good faith edits to this page and reverting to some variation of his original version. And, I feel his version does not have a NPV (particularly if it is being read by an English speaker who is not familiar with Israel), let me just mention a few of my concerns:
- Avaya1 adopts the (far) right wing framing of calling people illegal immigrants, while I am not saying this is wrong, a more NPV approach would be to at least link to the Wiki article which explains the issue (AVAYA keeps deleting the link) or to note on the page that many Israelis (and many human rights organizations) claim these people are asylum seekers and make clear that is a disputed term
- Avay1 doesn't mention that Otzma Leyisrael (the party she was originally affiliated) is a party which is widely described as being racist and/or following Kahanism, and he often deletes the link that would explain this issue, and reverts/deletes anyone who adds even a sentence of context
- The tone of parts of the article and the sourcing feels like it is written for promo purposes, for example this sentence "May Golan is a common guest on political panels on television channels in Israel. She has also been interviewed on international media organizations like the BBC Reuters, Fox News , I24News and RTI." This entire sentence was unsourced and feel like puffery the main purpose of which seem to be positioning her as someone non-Israeli media should interview And, whenever it is deleted from the page Avaya1 restores it without providing a source.
- Arguably May Golan is most notable for having made statements such as Africans learn to rape people it is their culture, she is proud to be called a racist and saying she won't eat in restaurant run by African because they are full of tuberculosis and AIDs Avaya1 keeps editing these statements off the page, and again it feels like important information an English speaker would want to have
- Overall I am concerned that the way this article was written it feels like the intent was to promote her career and legitimacy to non-Israeli media who might not be familiar with her actual situation in Israel
And, when anyone tries to change this, add more detail, deleted unsourced non-encyclopedic claims, Avaya1 keeps returning it to his version.
I find the above troubling, personally I am not interested in getting into an edit war, perhaps someone else will have more luck getting this page into shape and/or addressing these concerns

- I support saying she was part of Otzma and that they are Kahanist, but I don't support using the term Racist, per WP:RACIST. Also, I think the most neutral way to frame it is "Thought they are considered asylum seekers by X group, her organization disputes this, maintaining they are illegal immigrants." it's fine mentioning a quote as part of a controversy section. I think her notable has changed based on her being an MK now. ShimonChai (talk) 23:57, 12 April 2019 (UTC)
