Untitled edit

I have a painting entitled Montmarte by Maurice Utrillo....how can I verify authenticity?

I have a Maurice Utrillo painting and on the back it says, "vp734.utrillo: faubourg parisien". How would I be able to verify authenticity? FrancesL1967 (talk) 17:58, 22 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

Since his paintings displayed a lack of refined ability, they could be easily imitated. Assume that your paintings are not authentic.173.72.63.150 (talk) 23:58, 7 May 2014 (UTC)The Honourable Ronald AdairReply

Periods of Utrillo's art edit

Would be good to include a short section on the different periods of his style eg. the classic white period as well as the more colourful later periods. Information on this can be garnered from the book by Alfred Werner published in the 1950s while the artist was still alive.

Re: Paternity edit

Conception dates seem to add up to the approximate time Renoir worked on Dance at Bougival with Valadon. I think I read elsewhere that Renoir was intimate with most of his models. Viriditas (talk) 20:23, 3 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

While Renoir may not have been the father, the men she had affairs with were often twice her age (except for Lautrec, who was only one year older than her). Although we don't know who Utrillo's biological father is, it is interesting to note that he was diagnosed with schizophrenia given the hypothesis that schizophrenia may be associated with advanced paternal age.
