There is another Maurice Bishop who is a well known artist based in Dunster, Somerset - see www.mauricebishop.co.uk

I am not necessarily qualified to edit this article, but I thought this part stands out as particularly NOT NPOV; it sounds like a pep talk or political speech: "...as well as people from every facet of Grenadian life. It was a groundswell that reverberated in every village from the tip of Point Salines to the peak at Leaper's Hill. People who had never before been particularly active in the political life of the nation stood up to be counted on that fateful day. The government had made a habit of naming and prefacing every action in the name of the people; but on 19th October 1983, the people harnessed that power and freed Maurice Bishop from house arrest. The release, however, was bittersweet..." I would recommend that someone change the wording in that entire section, or remove it altogether. Insignificant1 14:48, 4 February 2007 (UTC)

POV and factual corrections

- Its is factually incorrect to call the NJM revolution of 1979 a "coup d'etat". What happened in sense fit the definition of that term.

- The commentary on Gairy's government is political POV.

- The long commentary on the issues concerning the airport is also POV. I cannot find proof that the events described actually happened. The paragraph is also POV because it is little more than a overly long after the fact justification for seeking aid from Cuba for the airport. Theories about the "trajectory" of the NJM have no place in the article.

- The long paragraph about worker's councils and Bishop's "intent was to transform Grenada into a socialist state in the mold of other Eastern bloc nations" is full of POV and opinion. It also factually misrepresents the nature of the "workers' councils and their relationship to the NJM government. The material in question, like the material on the airport has little to do with Bishop himself and doesn't seem relivant to this article.

- The claims of the text with regard to the divisions within the NJM in 1983 is at best opinion and at worst the POV of the American government from 1983 & the Coard faction. There are no facts to support an ideological division in the party in 1983. There are few trustworthy facts of any sort to determine what the problems within the government were. The claim that "Growth remained stagnant" is also POV from the anti-Bishop factions within the NJM.

- The circumstances of Bishop's death deserve more than one sentance. We have entire paragraphs talking about the airport and almost nothing about the man's death.

- The material at the end of the US Invasion section about the airport being completed years later has nothing to do with Bishop. Its little more than an attempt to introduce a POV political point into the article about an unrelated subject. There are other more appropriate articles for those kind of issues.

Undid recent changes as there is no backup for the assertion that Bishop was “mysteriously brought“ to Fort Rupert. The writer clearly has no idea how Bishop got there and injecting a supposed agent into the mix that delivered Bishop to the Fort is speculation, at best. Contemporary accounts indicate Bishop made his own way there, most likely in the company of the people who had freed him from house arrest. In addition, on that chaotic day there was no “scheduled” anything. If Bishop was to address a crowd in the Market Square or anywhere else it would have been impromptu, to say the least.

Question

Does it really make sense to list Bishop's "nationality" as "Aruban" in the infobox? He clearly was Grenadian during his political career and time in the government. Newyorkbrad (talk) 06:18, 26 August 2013 (UTC)

Education in London needs clarification

Details and chronology seem unreliable, particularly the unreferenced claim that: "In 1963–66, Bishop was president of the Students Association of Holborn College and in 1967 headed the association of students of the Royal College." Contradicting the dates in this, the article on Holborn College states that it was established in 1969 as Holborn Law College. Can anyone clarify? Proscribe (talk) 07:57, 26 September 2022 (UTC)
