I'm sure I read few years back, when Margot was out driving once she was involved in a serious car crash and either one or two of her rottweilers where thrown completely through the windscreen of her car.. then amazingly got help for her by getting people's attention. Irish-American edit

Some shaky trivia sites (the IMDB, etc.) seem to say she's an Irish-American. Does anyone have a good source or know for sure? Does she speak French? Mad Jack 21:44, 21 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Interesting trivia edit

I was watching an episode of Banacek "A Million the Hard Way" in which Kidder was a guest star. In a scene with George Peppard, she says "Banacek. One name? Like Superman?" The TV series aired in 1972, while Kidder did not play Lois Lane until 1978. A lovely coincidence but where to put it? 74.106.243.221 02:00, 8 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

nowhere since it's just dumb
well, not dumb, but its literally trivial, unless someone creates a cult religion around this coincidence that gets attention.(mercurywoodrose)76.232.10.199 (talk) 01:01, 28 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Family History edit

I do family Ancestry. I was wondering if Margaret Kidder is related to the Kidder's of History from England to America. Family is dated back between 1200 and 1300 to present. I am wondering this cause I am a relation to the Kidder's, Flora Alice (Kidder) Johnston is my Great Great Grandmother. If she is I would like to add her family lineage to my (VERY) large tree I have made. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Shortma1 (talkcontribs) 18:31, 6 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

Appearance in Family guy edit

She was parodied in Family Guy as a violent crazy woman, probably because of her acting in Superman (the scene where she was falling). That character appeared several times within that episode.92.81.208.68 (talk) 08:05, 2 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

That parody is nothing to do with her acting in Superman. I've no doubt it is in relation to her bipolar disorder and her 'manic episode' described in this article. I don't think it needs mentioning in here.

As a general rule, i dont think that ANY of the parodies of celebs in shows like family guy, simpsons, etc. deserve mention. If she was a recurring character, yes. highly notable celebrities routinely get mentioned everywhere. Obscure ones, the parodies are more notable. its like mentioning every time wood appears in popular culture, or the sun.(mercurywoodrose)76.232.10.199 (talk) 01:03, 28 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Appearance as narrator in 'Wonderful Wizard of Oz' not mentioned? edit

She is credited on 'Wonderful Wizard of Oz' (all 52 episodes and 4 films) as narrator and this is mentioned on The_Wonderful_Wizard_of_Oz_(1986_TV_series) but there is no reference to it on this page? 123.2.9.12 (talk) 17:32, 1 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

Death cause edit

The Guardian is reporting that Margot died of throat cancer, though I cannot find another source to corroborate this. Does anyone know if this was in fact the case? Other sources simply state the cause of death hasn't been disclosed. --Drown Soda (talk) 04:24, 15 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

I would wait, as there is no rush and we should get it right, but The Guardian, aside from its political biases, is a reliable source. Let's see if any other media back this up. Very sad. Quis separabit? 05:07, 15 May 2018 (UTC)Reply
@Rms125a@hotmail.com: Quite sad indeed. I was surprised to see a death cause published given all other articles don't mention it, though I wasn't sure if I had missed something. --Drown Soda (talk) 06:26, 15 May 2018 (UTC)Reply
Yes, let's wait. Odd that someone who "died of throat cancer" would die in their sleep. Something's amiss. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 07:41, 16 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

Quality assessment edit

I changed the class rating to 'C' today (from start), and it appears that the article is close to 'B' at the moment. Can somebody please check it against the B-class criteria? Thx, PKT(alk) 12:06, 15 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

Reactions to death edit

NadirAli the death section should not be an WP:INDISCRIMINATE list of every Twitter reaction to her death. Nowadays, through Twitter, it is easy for anyone in the world to write a simple "RIP (person)" tweet and it is picked up by online news journalists to make their article longer. Wikipedia is WP:NOTNEWS and in a biography of Kidder we don't need to include the fact that the creator of Mortal Kombat, Ed Boon, wrote an online condolence. Boon's Wikipedia article has no mention of Kidder and hers has no mention of him: they are not associated people at all. To suggest that Boon's condolence is as notable as that of DC (owner of her most famous character) is not accurate. Just because Ed Boon has a Wikipedia article doesn't mean that all of his online views should be included in Wikipedia articles. I never suggested that Ed Boon, Mark Hamill et al are not "notable" people, but that their views on Twitter are completely irrelevant to this article. Harambe Walks (talk) 21:19, 31 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

To editor Harambe Walks:, I did not add all the twitter condolences of her. I just added from notable people, so there is nothing "indiscriminate". Mark Hamill for example was associated with her outside of film. Look at her personal life section. It states all the people she was associated with and what not.--NadirAli نادر علی (talk) 21:22, 31 May 2018 (UTC)Reply
To editor Harambe Walks:, Ed Boon has also made a statement regarding her as Lois Lane. It is appropriate as the section is about reactions to her death and has a very limited amount of content.--NadirAli نادر علی (talk) 21:27, 31 May 2018 (UTC)Reply
Tweets are pure tripe, and not worthy of inclusion. If someone makes a notable contribution, press release, interview, then it should be considered, although not necessarily included. ScrpIronIV 21:30, 31 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

breakdown edit

article says she had a "highly publicized manic episode and nervous breakdown in 1996" and later "In April 1996, she experienced a widely publicized manic episode in Los Angeles" but seems to intentionally avoid further elaboration. Perhaps it was highly publicized at the time, but in an encyclopedia a reader would expect some explanation for those unfamiliar with the event, as to why it was significant and so widely publicized. Surely there's more to the a higly publicized episode than her disappearing and being taken to hospital. I'd never heard of it before today, and I still don't know anything about it after reading the aritcle. We don't have to be ghoulish, but in the interest of covering the article's subject, one would actually expect to find an entire section devoted to a highly publicized mental breakdown, a la WP:SPADE. 24.251.236.40 (talk) 18:12, 21 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
