Length

This list at 119,704 bytes is getting too long to edit without causing problems. I suggest dividing it between families or something, perhaps like List of birds of Japan or List of birds of North America.  SchreiberBike | ⌨  21:25, 2 February 2018 (UTC)

If there's no objection, I'm going to separate this list into two lists. It will be similar to List of birds of Japan. There will be:

• List of birds of Iran (non-passerine)
• List of birds of Iran (passerine)

Sourcing

I hate to be negative, but a lot of these birds' normal range is very far from Iran and none of the sources presently used in the article have nearly as many birds as this list has. What is the source for this list? I'm thinking in terms of core Wikipedia concepts of WP:V and WP:RS. Thank you,  SchreiberBike | ⌨  22:15, 2 February 2018 (UTC)

How does this look as a source? Scott, Derek A. & Adhami, Ali (20 April 2006). "An Updated Checklist of the Birds of Iran". Podoces. 1 (1/2): 1–16. It lists 517 species. Mass reversion

I'm no longer willing to assume good faith regarding edits to this article since May 20, 2017. I will revert to the last clean version of this page from here. Source for this list

The source listed as a reference in the article (Lepage, Denis. "Checklist of birds of Iran". Bird Checklists of the World. Avibase.) lists 551 species. Is there another reliable source which differs from this? What is the basis for the recent additions? This list has been vandalized in the past by adding species which are not associated with Iran, so I think we need some standard to follow. Having made some edits, as near as I can tell, the list now matches the source above. There are differences in synonyms used, but the species are the same. Anything else that is added should have a separate reference to support it. If anyone has any other ideas, please discuss them here. Thank you.  SchreiberBike | ⌨  03:38, 25 October 2018 (UTC)
