Isn't the word "Yoke" quite POV? Wouldn't occupation work better here? Dimadick (talk) 11:38, 4 July 2008 (UTC)

"Occupation" is just as POV and also technically incorrect, since the actual "Yoke" was the tribute the Russian states had to pay to the Mongols and the raids the Russians had to regularly face. The previous phrase is a common reference to that period of time. I would prefer the original, slightly neutralized name "List of Tatar and Mongol raids against Russian states" (they were not yet united into a single entity), as translated from the Russian section of the corresponding article ("Перечень походов монголо-татар на русские княжества"), because the present article is just that - a list of raids, with a more detailed account of the yoke given in that article. --Illythr (talk)

Rename

The current title conflicts in Eastern Europe during Turco-Mongol rule and the current description Mongol and Turco-Mongol wars, battles, and raids against Kievan Rus' and descendant principalities do not align, are too vague, and would fail WP:LISTCRIT. The only common element in all conflicts from 1242 onwards appears to be that they are Category:Battles involving the Golden Horde, a topic already covered in Timeline of the Golden Horde. All pre-1242 battles are covered in Template:Campaignbox Mongol invasion of Rus' and Mongol invasion of Kievan Rus' (except the redlink Mongol invasion of Moldavia and Wallachia, which can also fit in List of conflicts in Europe during Turco-Mongol rule). Therefore, this list can better be renamed List of battles of the Mongol invasion of Kievan Rus' (as an extension of Mongol invasion of Kievan Rus'), and be based on the Template:Campaignbox Mongol invasion of Rus'. All battles mentioned in List of conflicts in Europe during Turco-Mongol rule involving Kievan Rus' between 1223 and 1241 can also best be moved here. I'm going to do that now.
