Mr Beckett played in the first round of the Cupwinners Cup for Coleraine in both 75/76 and 77/78 [1]. This was a round proper, not a preliminary round, as can be seen at RSSSF Coleraine entered at the same stage as AC Milan, Porto, Man Utd etc. He also played in the first round of the European Cup (which again in those days all clubs entered at the beginning, see UEFA), the away leg of that round remains the record match score in the European Cup/Champions League, and Mr Beckett, now a TV pundit, is still interviewed about it: see e.g. UEFA, two-part interview for German website using the 11–0 as its starting point, but ranging over his career and NI football generally, etc. And he was Robert Dunlop's mechanic [2]. The article needs expanding to include some of the considerable media coverage of Mr Beckett's career, but there's plenty of it about. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 14:01, 27 January 2014 (UTC)Reply
