Naming

edit

Can people not put English translations next to the titles if they're not official titles? I don't know how else to do it, though.... SKS2K6 02:26, 1 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

TV Shows

This article doesn't seem to make clear if she is or isn't still in Xman. Monni 11:15, 15 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

She did not take the K-Pop world by storm

edit

The reaction (when she debuted) was not very positive, because of her "racy" (according to the korean standards) music video, and was rather controversial. The article sounds like it was written by her fan. mirageinred 23:09, 2 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Ack. No offense to whoever did this, cuz you added a lot of important info, but this is not a PR bio page. It's supposed to be a neutral encyclopedic entry. Therefore, it will be edited heavily over the next few days. SKS2K6 06:11, 3 September 2006 (UTC)Reply
It better be heavily edited. By the way, she's not known for her vocal skills very much either. mirageinred 14:07, 9 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Certain sections...

edit

that are bugging me as of late are these "favorites" and the endorsements. The favourites are just ... well, irrelevant to an artiel like this; we're not a fansite. While I agree that endorsements are somewhat significant, can we link to youtube clips, for example? And since it is so short, can't we integrate this information into a short blurb in the main article and just add links from there? SKS2K6 19:26, 7 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Well... I can agree with that "favorites" is irrelevant, but I however disagree in that endorsement and other short lists should be integrated in short blurbs in main article. What comes to YouTube or other video links, it's just matter of finding good alternative source that is in English and not in Korean, Chinese or even Japanese. I've hit in similar problems with various other articles and I don't think there is absolute solution waiting to be found. Monni 20:04, 7 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Can we link to non-wikipedia wiki links in such a wiki format? SKS2K6 05:15, 27 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

As long as it's not my wiki, then I guess I have no objection... lol... Monni 13:14, 27 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Endorsements

edit

Shouldn't the Dolce & Gabbana link to the wikipedia article instead of the main site, especially since it doesn't link directly to Chae Yeon's own advertisment(s)? SKS2K6 19:49, 1 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

edit

I have taken this link off twice. Because of 3RR, I can't do it again, but here's the thing. A) it's not officially endorsed by chae yeon, so it's not official. B) It does not give any information that is not listed here. Because of that, I'm wondering why this is added on, other than the somewhat obvious reason of advertisement. Wikipedia is not meant to have every single link related to the subject. If the link had many interviews, or some detailed information on songs, or SOMETHING, it'd be fine here, but it doesn't. SKS2K6 02:04, 22 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

And so it's the third. I'll leave it for now, but please see WP:EL.SKS2K6 20:01, 24 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Pseudonym

edit

It's weird to say that she is known by her pseudonym, because as far as I know, she changed her official name to Lee Chae Yeon when she debuted in Korea. Monni 07:22, 1 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

I don't know. They still call her "Lee Jin Suk". Is it a fact that it's legally changed? Cuz if it is, I'll take the category out....
In empas it says "Real name: Lee Chae Yeon". Monni 08:15, 1 December 2006 (UTC)Reply
Pseudonym states: "In some cases, the pseudonym has become the legal name of the person using it." SKS2K6 18:12, 1 December 2006 (UTC)Reply
Yeah... But the article already states that she used pseudonym "Jinny" (from her birth name "Jin Sook") during her Japan period. So it is also possible that "Chae Yeon" isn't pseudonym at all, but merely her real name excluding family name "Lee". So the question is how long she did or didn't use the name "Chae Yeon" professionally before she changed her real name. Monni 18:40, 1 December 2006 (UTC)Reply
In any case, she changed her name for stage reasons, and that is a pseudonym. SKS2K6 18:47, 1 December 2006 (UTC)Reply
Nope... She changed it for personal reasons... Jin Sook is an old-fashioned name and she wanted more "modern" name. Monni 18:52, 1 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Early career

edit

I'm really confused that she could be member of UltraCats from 2000, because as far as I know, UltraCats was formed in October 2001. Can someone get some link(s) to confirm or deny. Monni 22:37, 1 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

The Japanese Urinari Wikipedia page says 2001 to 2002 for Ultracats. The section about her early career needs to be re-written because chronologically it goes backwards and is a bit confusing. She was a part of Urinari first (her ballroom dance appearances came before Ultracats if I recall correctly) and then Ultracats was formed. Lostinube 12:55, 4 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:Chaeyeon 0.jpg

Image:Chaeyeon 0.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 05:18, 2 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Personal Life

edit

While all that had been written on Xman re: Kim Jong Kook had occurred, the two of them are actually not close at all. As stated in an interview with Arirang, they talk to each other through their managers. The whole Xman thing was during a game of Dangyunhaji (English translation "Of Course") where the object of the game is to force the other person NOT to say 'Of Course'. Sure it got mushy and romantic because it was revealed they had met 10 years earlier BUT they were still playing the game ... and it's television and things tend to get blown out of proportion.

Here's the YouTube link to the interview (English Subbed): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d1E5wt4sVyo

  • Please note, I have my reservations about how the piece is put together - (I can't stand the voice over)

Also under Trivia - Celebrity Friends - and while I don't REALLY know who she hangs out with - I would actually specify Shinhwa to its member Lee Minwoo, take out Kim Jong Kook and add Jang Young Ran and Jang Yoon Jung (they went to high school together).

UltraCats?

edit

In the article, it says "Chae Yeon was also member of group UltraCats (ウルトラキャッツ, UltraCats?) under the name of “Jinny” (ジニー, “Jinny”?) or “Jinny Lee” (ジニー・リー, “Jinny Lee”?) from 2001 to 2008."

Now, I'm not sure when she left this group or even if she is still in it, but what I do know that it isn't even 2008 yet! Could someone who knows this please fix it? Thanks!121.45.59.148 14:13, 29 September 2007 (UTC) 121.45.59.148 14:13, 29 September 2007 (UTC)grillfaceReply

A myspace page at [1] says 2002. I don't know if that source is reliable, but 2002 is more likely than 2008. -- Terry Carroll 16:01, 29 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
