Change "by many as the greatest.." to "by many as one of the greatest." The way it's written right now is misleading, as most analysts and experts still consider Michael Jordan as the greatest. 2606:A000:4C11:9A00:3488:869D:C207:4143 (talk) 19:56, 20 May 2018 (UTC)

James been to the Finals nine times (eight in a row)
Paragraph two of the "Player Profile" section states that "James has appeared in the Finals eight times and won three championships." As of 31/05, he has appeared in nine total, eight in a row. I'm not sure how to edit the page, but I thought I should bring it to someone's attention.

Vandalism under "activism"
Just noticed that one of the pictures under the "activism" subsection reads: "James, First Lady Michelle Obama, and Dwyane Wade tape a public service announcement with the forbidden fruit, January 2014." Another run with Free Agency(2018)
As the 2017-2018 NBA Season started to come along, there were several discussions about where James was heading to in the 2018 NBA offseason as he would expect to become an unrestricted free agent. Many people have suggested LeBron going to the Philadelphia 76ers, the Los Angeles Lakers, the New York Knicks, the San Antonio Spurs, the Boston Celtics, and the Houston Rockets as these teams are the front runners to pick up James in the offseason if Lebron decides to leave the Cavaliers. If Lebron opts out of his contract, then he will become an unrestricted free agent on July 1, 2018. Another discussion that as also made headlines throughout the NBA is LeBron opted into his contract and try to get traded to another team which is very similar to what Chris Paul did last season as he joined the Houston Rockets as several players were traded to the Los Angeles Clippers. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Broganlarose32 (talk • contribs) 23:47, 14 June 2018 (UTC)

LEBRON JAMES IN LAS ANGELES:
After becoming a free agent, on July 1st, 2018 Lebron James signed a 4-year contract with the Las Angeles Lakers for $154 million dollars. 50.98.108.136 (talk) 07:40, 2 July 2018 (UTC)

LeBron is now on the Los Angles Lakers. He signed a four year, $153.3 million deal with the fourth year reportedly being a players option — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.87.45.2 (talk) 14:12, 2 July 2018 (UTC)
Lakers
I understand that the signing is not official, but it should be reported that as of July 1, 2018, LeBron James has made a verbal commitment to sign with the LA Lakers. Not changing the team in the infobox, just noting that at the bottom of the career section. 47.186.22.140 (talk) 04:45, 2 July 2018 (UTC)
- There needs to be consensus to add this. Once that exists, you can make a request using {{Edit fully-protected}}. Alternatively, the signing will likely be announced after the July moratorium on July 6, when it should be more straightforward to update. Regards.—Bagumba (talk) 08:02, 2 July 2018 (UTC)
- That's the most accurate phrasing. He's not on the Lakers yet (understandable popular misconceptions notwithstanding) but he's announced, through an agent, that he will be and it seems silly to ignore that entirely. ShaleZero (talk) 15:29, 2 July 2018 (UTC)

This is absurd
Yes, LeBron is not officially a Laker yet, but pretending like nothing has happened and not even including a "On July 1, numerous sources reported LeBron had agreed to a deal with the Los Angeles Lakers" bit just makes Wikipedia look bad. This is a good example of how Wikipedia's bureaucracy and stringent rules can cause more problems than they solve. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:204:CF80:7A6:8DB6:50CE:8AC3:1E31 (talk) 22:58, 2 July 2018 (UTC)

- Ignoring the development entirely leads to more disruptive editing and redundant edit requests. Surely if there's confusion over the difference between committing to sign a contract vs. signing the contract, the thing to do is to explain that on the page rather than just pretending the confusing fact doesn't exist? Don't make the word "season" a link in the "Rise to superstardom (2004–2008)" section. It links to the season article (about one of the four parts of the year), not an article about an NBA season. And even a link to an article about an NBA season wouldn't really make sense; nobody gets this deep into an article about one NBA star without knowing what a season is. It's a case of MOS:OVERLINK. - We do not include anything during the Moratorium, in the event he (or any player) pulls a DeAndre Jordan on us. –Piranha249 03:20, 4 July 2018 (UTC)
- This is insane and inane; we cannot report that he has signed, but we can and should obviously report that he has announced an *intent* to sign. To ignore this bit of information for days while it's widely reported in reliable sources is pointless. NorthBySouthBaranof (talk) 04:32, 4 July 2018 (UTC)
- As the previous editor stated as many others have to, look at DeAndre Jordan. ANYTHING can happen. As unlikely as it is to happen, LeBron or the Lakers could back out of the contract.--Rockchalk717 05:38, 4 July 2018 (UTC)
- And if that happens, we can change it in 10 seconds. We should not omit highly-relevant, well-sourced information on the mere speculation that there is a .0001% chance that the information is negated by later actions. It is an indisputable fact that James has publicly announced his intention to sign with the Lakers. Heck, even if it does turn out to be negated, we would still include that fact somewhere because it would be highly notable that James announced his free-agency choice and then changed it later. As an encyclopedia, we look stupid not having this information included in a biography. Even Britannica has it. NorthBySouthBaranof (talk) 05:54, 4 July 2018 (UTC)

- Actually, the statement that James has announced his intent to sign is now included. - That's fine but I'm more referring to specifically the opening and the infobox. If you look in the earlier posts on here I support indicating he intends to sign. This post was saying he is a Laker already and he will wear 23 indicating they likely want the infobox updated, which isn't happening until the contract is signed.--Rockchalk717 16:45, 4 July 2018 (UTC)

Overly detailed introduction
Hi Everyone,
The introduction lists off all of James's individual accomplishments and then gives essentially a year-by-year rundown of his career, including references to exactly when and where he won each award. Based on other articles, this seems excessive to me. Would anyone have an objection to me trimming it down and perhaps bringing back some off the court information?--Ktmartell (talk) 19:21, 18 July 2018 (UTC)
2017 Alleged Graffiti Incident
The article currently eludes to James' response after the graffiti incident in 2017. However this article makes a very strong case that the incident didn't happen and the weight of evidence points to that. There has not been any further developments in the story since this article was written. Is it appropriate to talk about this in this article, or should perhaps another article discuss it?Liberty axe (talk) 12:09, 23 July 2018 (UTC)
- I'm not familiar with that source and whether it can be considered reliable. Are there other sources discussing this? Otherwise, WP:UNDUE is another concern. Regards.—Bagumba (talk) 12:26, 23 July 2018 (UTC)
- Among the sports media, this is basically the definition of a story that they don't want to go near. Especially as the accusations of 'racism' are inevitable. However the article I mentioned examined events i'm sure that could be corroborated in reliable sources, and makes a good case that there was never any graffiti on James' fence. The police have never shown any public evidence of it. I think that going in to detail on this article would violate WP:UNDUE, so can we have perhaps have a short mention here and another article about the incident? Liberty axe (talk) 08:08, 25 July 2018 (UTC)
- As not many sources, in fact just this one, is calling the incident into question, it is undue to make any mention here, especially when his Wikipedia article itself has just one sentence about it. By comparison, there's many sources that discuss the Obama birther issue or flat earth, and even those are undue to be mentioned in their respective main article.—Bagumba (talk) 11:31, 25 July 2018 (UTC)
- I have seen other sources discuss it, often to attack the theory. However if you read the article I think many people will come to think it is correct unlike the other two theories you mentioned which are now very difficult to argue for based on evidence. As I said there is only Lebron's say so to indicate that anything happened. So we are in a situation where we think something happened because the media simply says so rather than any solid evidence pointing to it. Maybe that is what Wikipedia is supposed to do? If you haven't please read the article. Liberty axe (talk) 13:08, 25 July 2018 (UTC)

Father
Hello,
I do not think that we should list his father's name. There are no reliable sources that contain that information. If we are having to say "Speculated as his father" followed by a citation from The Guardian, that information probably shouldn't be in the article. What are everyone's thoughts? Thanks for your help!--Ktmartell (talk) 13:25, 4 September 2018 (UTC)
- Is The Guardian not reliable (honest question)? Incidentally, I don't see anything in there that says it is "speculated". The Daily Mail, I know, has issues.—Bagumba (talk) 16:46, 4 September 2018 (UTC)
- I didn't think it was reliable, but I could be wrong. Is there somewhere we can look it up? Also, it says "speculated" within the LBJ article itself. Sorry for not being clear about that. If you think it's fine to leave in, I don't have a strong objection, but I do think we should remove the "speculated" thing.--Ktmartell (talk) 12:18, 5 September 2018 (UTC)

2011 Finals Loss
Hello everyone, I just want to take the time to elaborate on the section of the 2011 NBA Finals. Recently, Lebron has stated in interviews that the 2011 NBA Finals loss was his biggest challenge to overcome. He credits the 2011 Finals loss as a contributing factor as to why he has become the player he is today. --BradyGOAT19 (talk) 18:33, 15 November 2018 (UTC)

The "fifth NBA player to reach 32,000 career points" text in the lead
Hi, GiantSnowman. Regarding this and this, I understand the content being lower in the article (it should be there, of course), but I don't see that, per WP:Lead, it should be in the lead. noah has been the first to accomplish a number of things, but we don't include all of that in the lead. I saw the addition yesterday, but I decided against logging on and reverting, and I was taking a break from Wikipedia. I just wanted to watch the Warriors game without having to focus on catching up on my watchlist and spending hours on Wikipedia. Anyway, what are your thoughts on what I stated about the lead inclusion? Flyer22 Reborn (talk) 21:09, 7 February 2019 (UTC)
- If you want to remove it from the lede then feel free. You'll note it was an afterthought from me. I'd have no issues if you removed it. GiantSnowman 08:40, 8 February 2019 (UTC)
- GiantSnowman, after this edit (followup fix here) by BoogieFreeman, the text fits a lot better in the lead. It states "fifth in all-time career points scored," which, because of the context, is better than stating "fifth NBA player to reach 32,000 career points." I don't mind it being in the lead now. King James
Is Lebron’s nickname “King James” prominent enough to be displayed in the summary/overview at the very beginning of the article? Mrbeastmodeallday (talk) 08:10, 14 March 2019 (UTC)
- I would say "no". The obvious cases to mention would be if they were their WP:COMMONNAME (e.g. Magic Johnson), if it were a redirect per WP:R#PLA (e.g. Dr. J), or if it were consistently used in reliable sources or broadcasts in lieu of their common name (e.g. "The Mailman" for Karl Malone). For example, there is no "Black Mamba" in the lead of Kobe Bryant.—Bagumba (talk) 10:49, 14 March 2019 (UTC)

NBA 2018 Final Game 1 Eye injury
Very poor summary, it's mentioned he punched a locker out of frustration post game, which affected the rest of his matches yet NO mention of the more pertinent eye injury sustained in game one thanks to that thug Draymond Green sticking his fingers out when LeBron went for a dunk. His eye was very red and for the rest of the championship it was clear to see, I cannot understand why that gets no mention yet his self inflicted hand injury does?!

- A Heavy.com article after Game 2 said:
The injury has not seemed to impact his play ...
Unless there's a lot of sources that say otherwise, WP:NOTDIARY and WP:UNDUE would suggest it's not worth mentioning. On the other hand, James said he was affected by the hand injury, so WP:NPOV warrants mentioning it as a possbile factor in the series.—Bagumba (talk) 14:44, 5 April 2019 (UTC)

"LeBron"
Underbelly 50, regarding this, I don't feel strongly about it, but it was there apparently because "LeBron" redirects to this article and James is known simply by his first name, similar to how Beyoncé is known simply by her first name. See WP:Alternative title. The difference is that in addition to Beyoncé Knowles being known simply by her first name, she is usually marketed by her first name. So, after discussion, her Wikipedia article was moved to that title. All that stated, we have a hatnote at the top of the LeBron James article stating that "Lebron" redirects here. Additional text to "Player profile", "Defense" section, following 2018-2019 NBA season.
During his first year with the Lakers, James came into significant criticism from media and former players [1] [2] [3] following a perceived lack of effort on defense. In February 2019, with the Los Angeles Lakers at a 28-29 record, three games out of the playoffs, James said he was activating "playoff mode" [4] [5] to help the team push for the playoffs. However, they went 2-5 in the next seven games [6] resulting in further criticism both of the "playoff mode" and his defensive effort. [7] [8] Revanche1 (talk) 10:48, 4 July 2019 (UTC)
- Not done: This is taking a few sources about specific games to make an unsupported statement about an entire season. As far as I can see, the "playoff mode" was from the USA Today writer and not a quote from James. Moreover, WP:NPOV would require getting into his groin injury, Lonzo Ball being out, and the team being poor on defense overall as The New York Times mentioned. There's probably a source out there that says his defense didn't get any better with the Lakers, but sources exist that say he's 34 and it's not unexpected given his load on offense.—Bagumba (talk) 11:41, 4 July 2019 (UTC
