To not merge given No consensus with a stale discussion. Klbrain (talk) 06:00, 9 August 2019 (UTC)Reply

It's the same song, WP does song articles, not recordings of the same song Richhoncho (talk) 22:34, 29 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

  • I split this article into two because they're not really the same song, since they're different genres with the original being a pop instrumental, and the Snoop Dogg song is a rap remix. Also, based on the sources I've found, I think each song has gotten enough coverage to warrant independent notability. FallingGravity 23:51, 29 April 2018 (UTC)Reply
  • The article says it's the same song, same recording, there is a connection between the two recordings that you wish to destroy. Your arguments have already been kicked into touch before. "Different genres" so every song recorded in a different genre should have different articles? Why? It's the same song. Notability does not mean separate articles, either. Separation isn't helping anybody. If you want you can anchor the remix for redirects. --Richhoncho (talk) 13:36, 30 April 2018 (UTC)Reply
I do not "wish to destroy" the connection between the two songs, and the articles already make that connection clear. If you feel like the articles should be merged because they have same/similar instrumentals in the foreground/background, feel free to get concensus to do so. There is already consensus at WP:SONGCOVER. The notification here was politeness. --Richhoncho (talk) 16:16, 30 April 2018 (UTC)Reply
Is there consensus that "remix" a synonym for "cover/rendition"? FallingGravity 17:38, 30 April 2018 (UTC)Reply
Do you know what a remix is? --Richhoncho (talk) 17:59, 30 April 2018 (UTC)Reply
Yes, you take some elements from a previous song (like a pop instrumental), and add new elements (such as lyrics) to create your own song. FallingGravity 18:17, 30 April 2018 (UTC)Reply
That's sampling, we are talking remixing. --Richhoncho (talk) 19:42, 30 April 2018 (UTC)Reply
Please get real consensus to merge before merging. FallingGravity 19:56, 30 April 2018 (UTC)Reply
I was brought here by a comment that they should be merged, they should be merged and now they are merged according to Wikipedia guidelines, as already shown. --Richhoncho (talk) 20:01, 30 April 2018 (UTC)Reply
There is currently no consensus for this proposed merge right now, so your edits constitute disruptive editing (another Wikipedia guideline). Maybe the two articles should be merged, or maybe it should not, but that isn't for involved editors like us to ultimately decide. Also, there's seriously no rush to decide either way. Leave it, ffs, the lead starts, ""Lavender" is a song released by Canadian jazz instrumental hip hop band BadBadNotGood (BBNG) as part of their 2016 album IV. The song has been adapted into two music videos. The official video was released by BBNG in November 2016. The American rapper Snoop Dogg added lyrics to the song and released the "Nightfall Remix" version in 2017. The music video to this version caused some controversy because of a scene depicting a mock assassination of U.S. President Donald Trump. That says it's the same song. {I added the bold for you see) --Richhoncho (talk) 22:43, 30 April 2018 (UTC)Reply
