Kyaymyin Mibaya
  • ... that Kyaymyin Mibaya (pictured) was the last queen consort chosen by the King Mindon who had 45 queens in total? Source: Burmese Encyclopedia Volume 10 (in Burmese). Sarpay Beikman. 1954. p. 24. or Thamine Pale Thwe (History Pearl). U Sein Maung Oo (Archaeology). 2005. p. 122.

Hi Taung Tan, looks like a good start. I've copyedited it a little, please feel free to correct any errors I've introduced. A few queries - Dumelow (talk) 07:50, 11 July 2022 (UTC)Reply
  • I couldn't find mention in Colbeck (1892) of the king ordering the granting of the oil wells to Kyaymyin's son. Coudl you advise a page number please?
  • None of the first four sentences of the second paragraph, which are cited to the Irrawaddy article appear to be supported by it. Can you add sources?
  • Are you sure she was 34 ("in her 35th year") when Colbeck met her? He just says "the Kyay Myin Queen, is a very nice lady of 35". Likewise he says the grandfather was "83 years of age" and her son was "of 13 years". Typically in British writing this would be their actual age not their "xth year".
  • The birth name and place are in the infobox but not cited or mentioned in the sourced part of the main text
  • Victuallers pls allow me 2days? I'm waiting the book named "History Pearl" from the national library. I'll show you offline source with cam shot. Thanks Taung Tan (talk) 22:08, 17 July 2022 (UTC)Reply
  • Taung Tan ?
Thanks Taung Tan. Happy to AGF that the Burmese-language source you've added supports the material. I think your wording on the age issue is a good solution. I can AGf on the sourcing for "youngest, last and richest queen", but for your first hook the article does not currently state that Mindon had 62 queens. Could you add this (and source it), thanks - Dumelow (talk) 15:50, 27 July 2022 (UTC)Reply
Hi Dumelow, Thanks. I've found source for number of queens of King Mindon, BBC source says King Mindon had a total of 45 queens, 55 sons, and 53 daughters, a total of 108 children. I firstly added that '62 queens in total' according to Mindon Min article. It is generally correct because the King had over 40 queens and +20 royal concubines, however I can't find source online. So I changed to 45 queens in total per BBC source. Cheer Taung Tan (talk) 19:53, 28 July 2022 (UTC)Reply
  • @Taung Tan: As far as I can tell, this is your sixth DYK nomination. Can you please confirm if this is the case? We recently made a change to our QPQ rules, meaning that you will need to provide a QPQ if you've had more than five DYK nominations (previously, DYK credits rather than nominations were counted). Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 00:07, 29 July 2022 (UTC)Reply
Thanks Narutolovehinata5, I hadn't been aware of the change from counting credits to counting nominations. I'd note that that the QPQ check tool doesn't reflect this as it only counts credits. Taung Tan, happy to accept on good faith that the Burmese language article supports the 45 queens claim. The only outstanding matter is to review another nomination, there's a handy guide at Wikipedia:Did you know/Reviewing guide which might help you out on your first review - Dumelow (talk) 05:48, 29 July 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Narutolovehinata5: I've sucessfully promoted 3 Dyks in past, other 3 were failed. Do you count falied dyk nomonations? So I need to review QPQ? Taung Tan (talk) 18:52, 29 July 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Taung Tan: Yes. If you've had six overall nominations, even if only three succeeded, you are still required to provide a QPQ. We now count nominations, rather than credits, for counting towards the QPQ requirement. Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 18:58, 29 July 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Narutolovehinata5: Thanks, I'll review soon. Taung Tan (talk) 19:10, 29 July 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Taung Tan: Normally, you'd be required to provide a QPQ within seven days of the nomination. This is per another recent rule change. However, as you weren't aware of the rule change until now, you can probably be given seven days from this comment to review. If a review isn't given within seven days from now, the nomination could be closed on procedural grounds. Narutolovehinata5 (talk · contributions) 23:00, 29 July 2022 (UTC)Reply
Hi Taung Tan, everything on the article looks OK to me now. If you want the hook to run with an image then you will need to add a US public domain tag to the image at the Commons page. The image must be public domain in the US as well as the source country to qualify at Commons - Dumelow (talk) 15:53, 30 July 2022 (UTC)Reply
@Dumelow: Why not {{PD Myanmar}} ?. I've used PD Myanmr license on the previous my DYKs. However Done! Thanks Taung Tan (talk) 16:27, 30 July 2022 (UTC)Reply
Hi Taung Tan. The situation is outlined at Commons:Licensing#Interaction_of_US_and_non-US_copyright_law, the work must be in the public domain in both the origin country and the US (where the Commons servers are located). I've switched to PD-1996, as we don't know year of first publication in the US for PD-US. Looks good to go now - Dumelow (talk) 06:49, 31 July 2022 (UTC)Reply

DYK nomination edit

  • Hi Dumelow, and Taung Tan, I'm writing here because I don't want to complicate the DYK nom page. I've rewritten the note regarding her birth date. If that's not good enough for DYK, remove the note altogether, and go with Western reckoning.
  • Her age at death of 73 is another problematic one. By traditional reckoning, she died in her 73rd year. We won't know for sure unless we know her actual birth and death dates.
  • This is a longstanding problem. Many books on Burmese history in English simply report the ages found in the chronicles or Burmese sources without first converting to Western ages. I can provide many such examples. Anyway, I don't want to muddy the waters of this nomination. Feel free to remove the note if it stands in the way of a DYK approval. Hybernator (talk) 03:12, 18 July 2022 (UTC)Reply
Hi Hybernator and Taung Tan. Think this might be a case of WP:VNT, if the reliable source says she died aged 73 then we can't assume it's wrong and say 73rd year, unless there is another reliable source that says that. If it's a sticking point then you can remove it or replace it with "in her seventies" or similar - Dumelow (talk) 16:53, 18 July 2022 (UTC)Reply
