Kathryn Finney's Early Life and Education:

Kathryn Finney was born in 1977 Milwaukee, Wisconsin, however, she grew up in Miami, Florida. She came from a low-income family which had a significant influence on her dedication to promoting diversity and inclusion as an influential figure. She earned her Bachelor's degree in Economics at Florida State University and later went to attain her P.h.D in political science, but later left to pursue entrepreneurial aspirations she had. Throughout her high school and university career, Finney was heavily a part of Student Government assocations, Women's Rugby team, as well as earned a Alumni Aware for Outstanding Scholarship and Community Service

Innovation she came up with:

As a trained epidemiologist, Kathryn founded in 2012 and became the first CEO of Digitalundivided. This non-profit organization focuses on economic growth and empowerment specifically for the Black and Latinx women entrepreneurs in the tech industry at a disadvantage. Digitalundivided aims to highlight and address significant disparities and challenges faced in these deographic group by offering opportunities, resources, and support within the entrepreneurship and technology sectors. Project Diane was the first research initiative to expand awareness of Latinx and Black entrepreneurs which was a part of her effort in expanding Digitalundivided. This organization run programs specifically designed for women minorities in building and scaling their tech startups. These programs provided network opportunities, access to funding, mentorship, and other resources essential for start success. These events and workshops that are hosted focus on bringing together aspiring and established investors, entrepreneurs, and experts to share their experience, network, and knowledge.

The pain point Kathryn Finney tried to address:

Finney aimed to address the lack of representation and funding for Black and Latinx women entrepreneurs in the tech industry through digitalundivided and Project Diane. These ventures focused on providing support, resources, and opportunities for underrepresented founders to thrive in the tech and startup ecosystem. This was very important to Kathryn as she aimed to elevate and empower underrepresented voices in the tech through representation. Diversity and inclusion was reach through these communities as Finney work on creating a more diverse and inclusive space within these industries. Breaking barriers and challenging stereotpes paves the way for innovators in the tech industry to become more inclusive.

Impact Innovation has on society: (is the innovation still un use, has it transformed into something else, or has it disappeared?)

The impact of digitalundivided on society has been significant in addressing the lack of representation and funding for Black and Latinx women entrepreneurs in the tech industry. Through initiatives like Project Diane, digitalundivided has worked to empower underrepresented founders, provide support, and create opportunities for them to succeed in the technology and startup sectors. While the specific impact of digitalundivided continues to evolve, its work remains relevant in advocating for diversity and inclusion in the tech ecosystem. The organization's efforts have helped raise awareness about the challenges faced by minority entrepreneurs and have contributed to creating a more equitable and diverse entrepreneurial landscape. As with any organization or initiative, it is important to assess the ongoing impact and relevance of digitalundivided's work. By monitoring the outcomes, partnerships, and achievements of digitalundivided, stakeholders can determine whether the innovation is still in use, has transformed into something else, or has influenced broader changes in the industry and society. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 155.33.133.3 (talk) 18:48, 10 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
