editHi, I am a collector of the book Karlsson on the Roof. If you know where i can find one in any language except english, sweden, german or russian please let me know. Thanks, msk_0104@speedymail.org

ever banned in north american libraries?
editI tagged as dubious the claim in the article that Karlsson books were banned in some north-american libraries. I looked around a bit and could not find any reliable refs to substantiate this claim, and most google hits seem to originate from various wikipedia mirrors. Is this claim really correct or is it some kind of an urban legend? If someone knows reliable sources to confirm this claim, please add them. Nsk92 (talk) 13:15, 2 September 2008 (UTC)
- I removed the statement from the article. The statement had a ref to[1], a personal website. I don't think that ref is good enough for WP:V purposes. I found a ref to a Walll Street Journal article[2] where the topic is discussed. The author is rather oblique there on the issue of the book having been banned and only says that the book "appears to have met with some protests in the U.S." That is a far cry from saying that the book has actually been banned (plus where precisely?). I think some more solid sources and greater clarity on what actually happened are needed before the info is re-inserted into the article. Nsk92 (talk) 18:27, 10 March 2010 (UTC)
Karlsson origins
editDoes anyone know if Astrid Lindgren was familiar with the Barnaby comic strip, which predated Karlsson-on-the-Roof by about a decade? There are certainly a few similarities:
- Only Lillebror can see Karlsson; only Barnaby can see Mr. O'Malley.
- Karlsson frequently gets Lillebror in trouble; Mr. O'Malley frequently gets Barnaby in trouble.
- Karlsson can fly via a propeller; Mr. O'Malley can fly with his pink wings.
- Both Karlsson and Mr. O'Malley smoke cigars (IIRC).
Maybe these are just coincidences, but if not, it'd make sense for the Karlsson-on-the-Roof page and the Barnaby page to cross-link each other.

This page is quite misfortunate: could it be that such an influential novel hasnt any analysis, detailed search for its origins, symbolism etc? So this surely has to be included ... — Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.147.187.64 (talk) 09:43, 13 June 2011 (UTC)
