Hi we are two students from the University of Hull at Scarborough; we are creating a Wikipedia article on Professor Jon Mckenzie of New York University who is interested in performance theory. We have been given Jon Mckenzie as a research subject in which we have to place a Wikipedia page on him on Wikipedia. We have been given him due to his extensive research into performance theory and is a noted writer based on this. he was contributed widely in Theatre and has improved students like us to be able to grasp performance and we would like to honour him by putting up a reference to him on Wikipedia, so that future students may also research into him and get a good indication of his work. Although our research at the moment is limited due to the fact we got him today and we had to create the page then and add to it later, we would appreciate it by advice and patience as we slowly edit the page, once our knowledge has grown, the page will grow. --Stephanie Pearson (talk) 14:24, 8 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Hi, I have edited my paragraph on McKenzie's influences that I added yesterday as somebody commented that it looked like some of the information was from a original resource. However, all of the information in the middle section is from the same website so can anybody guide me as to the best way of making this clear so that it is does not look like the information is my own? i placed a link to Doorika because in their reference they have Jon McKenzie, however the style of their referencing is incomplete and i cannot find the rest of the information needed for the reference. It is also not mentioned in Jon McKenzies C.V so i am concerned that their information is either wrong or i have missed something. I found http://www.womenandperformance.org/past.html with Google; this links to the table of contents of each issue, so you might be able to work out which issue number has the Doorika/McKenzie material. You can add [[File:File name.jpg|thumb|Caption text.]] to the area of the article where you want the image to appear – replacing File name.jpg with the actual file name of the image, and Caption text with a short description of the image. See our picture tutorial for more information. This deals with the mechanics of adding the image, but there is a larger problem. The image is of a living person, and appears to be copyrighted. In order to use an image here it needs to be in the public domain or claimed as fair use of copyright. Photographs of living people are generally not allowed as fair use and, as you may or may not have noticed, the image is tagged with a notice that speaks a bit to the issue. The image has no licensing information nor claim of fair use on it and will be deleted if this is not addressed. Talk page banners edit

why do we have the banner about living persons biography when all our work has referencing and is all true due to the fact that we are being assessed on this. please can you point out what we have done wrong. our tone is neutral and we have fully read and understood the conditions of Wikipedia

Don't worry about those; they go on the talk page of every article whose subject is a living person. It's just a reminder that all editors have to be especially careful with these articles. -- John of Reading (talk) 22:22, 2 November 2010 (UTC)Reply
(e/c) You misunderstand. That is a general notice for biographies of living persons. It is placed on the talk page of many, many thousands of biographies, from featured articles to barely sourced stubs, to inform (or remind) people that when they edit the page they must do so with the requirements spoken about in mind. If we wanted to flag that the article has a problem with sourcing, negative content, etc. such notices would not be placed on this talk page but on the article itself, and would not say "this article must adhere to..." but would say something like "this article has problem so and so...".--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 22:23, 2 November 2010 (UTC)Reply
