All right. Is a a Cub or a Yankee?
For Cub, he's a native Illinois person; played more years for Chicago.
For Yankee, his New York team had a spot light, he won a World Series and caught a perfect game. He works for YES.

If he played 5+ years on the Yankees then maybe the titles would mean more, but he was a complementary players on those teams (he only started on the 1996 champions) and he played twice as many years, in two separate stints, for the Cubs. I know this is a stupid question, but why is this protected?

Because some idiot kept trying to put Yankees colors in his info box even though he played twice as many years for the Cubs. Now the page is protected because of the three-revert rule. He was clearly most reflective as a Cub, it's stupid.

What about this... Winfield played two more years in NY, was an all star 4 more times in NY than San Diego, all but 2 of his gold gloves, all but one of silver sluggers (none in San Diego).

Team colors

I think it is also important to remember that besides playing many more years in Chicago, he had his best years as a Cub. His only All-Star selection was in 2002 for the Cubs. Joeidaho 17:28, 17 July 2007 (UTC)

I love Girardi, and I hope someday he's hired as manager for the Cubs, but the All-Star selection wasn't all that special. Girardi was chosen to the All-Star game (2000, not 2002) only after Mike Piazza suffered a concussion three days before the game, Javy López turned down the spot to head home to Puerto Rico, AND Todd Hundley turned down the spot due to a sickness in his family. Your credibility only goes down after editing using alternate names, your IP, and campaigning for the use of non-Yankee colors on players that met your criterion TO wear Yankee colors, i.e., Dave Winfield played longer in NY than SD, and changing Don Mattingly's colors. Attempt to diffuse this

I suggest that everyone involved in this edit war take a step back and lay off the article for a while before the 3RR blocks start being given out (if it's not too late). As a neutral party, I'm going to take out the work "primarily" as it seems non-NPOV, (and he played 578 games for the Cubs and 878 for other teams, I just added it up), but leave the colors as is. Of course, if someone reverts me, I won't revert back, but it may move you closer to a block if you've made multiple reversions in the past 24 hours. Try and decide how important this really is. In St. Louis?

I believe that the incident between Loria and Girardi occurred at a Dodger's game in Dolphin Stadium, not at St. Louis. I recall that Vanover was calling VERY poorly against the Marlins, and that Loria started mouthing off. Girardi had been tossed the day before, and wanted to avoid further negative Ump interaction, even though Vanover was deserving of it. He should have been more respectful of Loria in asking him to tone it down, but was more direct. However, I do not have a link handy, so I will not change it until I find a link... Shut the fuck/f***/freak up

This quote has gone back and forth between "shut the fuck up" and "shut the f*** up" a number of times, and now just recently someone changed it to "shut the freak up." My feeling is that there's no reason to censor anything unless it's quoted from a source which is censored. But there's certainly no reason to ever actually change the words people have said, is there?

I've edited the details regarding that incident because of the use of profanity by Girardi was a publicity concoction by the Marlins front office. People who have known him for decades say they've never heard him curse let alone drop the F bomb. Why don't the succession boxes and list boxes (e.g., New York Yankees managers, Florida Marlins managers) show up on the page? First off, that source is some sort of blog, and not reliable. Second, the article it cites, which is reliable, says the switch is "likely", meaning it hasn't happened, and though probable, might not happen.
