Voltaire and Les Lettres d'un Quaker edit

Hi Eric: you've suppressed my correction : where I added dates and mentioned that Lefranc de Pompignan was bishop of Le Puy. You mentioned Voltaire and his Lettre d'un quaker. Read it : He attacked Lefranc de Pompignan as bishop of Le Puy :" De quoi t’avises-tu, dans une instruction dite pastorale, adressée aux laboureurs, vignerons, et merciers du Puy en Velay, de dire (page 38) que le système de gravitation est menacé de décadence ? Qu’a de commun la théorie des forces centripètes et centrifuges avec la religion et avec les habitants du Puy en Velay" ?. So it is wrong to write that the archbishop of Vienne was attacked by Voltaire. I maintain my version : you can rewrite as you want .. Lou, I reverted your change again. Your change breaks the sentence, that is, the sentence as you changed it no longer works in English. I have no idea what you are talking about regarding my mention of Voltaire--I have not written anything in the Pompignan article. And the article does not state that anyone was attacked by Voltaire. I am not familiar with this topic, but I'm guessing that what you are saying is that the words "archbishop of Vienne" should be changed to "archbishop of Le Puy en Velay". There is no need to insert the dates of Pompignan's terms of office into that sentence. If you think that info should be in the article, put it in another sentence, and it would be helpful to cite sources. Eric ^talk 20:40, 9 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

Eric : Quite simple : Lefranc de Pompignan was bishop of Le Puy between 1743 and 1774. In 1763 he published a book which was "attacked" by Voltaire in his "Lettre d'un quaker" (see the excerpt). Voltaire did not like the Pompignan family: the brother of the bishop (a french poet) was the "official enemy" of the philosopher . Then (11 years after) he began archbishop of Vienne. There is somme confusion in the article. Maybe my correction was also not precise enough. Please rewrite it...
