Requested move 7 July 2019 edit

The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review after discussing it on the closer's talk page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.

The result of the move request was: No consensus – Recommend discussing at Wikiproject India or some such place first; if support is found there, just move it, or come back to RM if it's still controversial. (non-admin closure) Dicklyon (talk) 23:45, 10 August 2019 (UTC)Reply

Jai Hind metro stationBiman Bandar metro station – as per the current official map of Kolkata Metro https://mtp.indianrailways.gov.in/uploads/files/1504000368490-System%20Map%20of%20Metro%20Railway_31_03_2017.jpg Saha ( talk ) 17:51, 7 July 2019 (UTC) --Relisting.  ~~ OxonAlex - talk 19:14, 15 July 2019 (UTC)--Relisting. User:Steven Crossin (talk) 04:54, 23 July 2019 (UTC) Yes, The page should be moved to Biman Bandar metro station because the authority has has confirmed that the name of this station would be Biman Bandar not Jai Hind metro station. •   Comment: from relister - can additional sources please be provided to show the link between the former name, and the proposed current/new name. Sources provided including a map do not clearly show this change from old to new name. Steven Crossin Help resolve disputes! 04:28, 23 July 2019 (UTC)Reply
@Steven Crossin: This is the previous one (2014). see the 3rd map, u will see Jai Hind https://mtp.indianrailways.gov.in/view_section.jsp?lang=0&id=0,1,304,375,379 . This is the current one, NEW SYSTEM MAP UPDATED ON 31ST MARCH 2017 https://mtp.indianrailways.gov.in/view_section.jsp?id=0,1,285&lang=0 . And this is the official source. Thanks for your response, but I'm unable to locate the station on the new map. Could you notate it somehow or provide alternate references for the name change? Steven Crossin Help resolve disputes! 15:51, 24 July 2019 (UTC)Reply
@Steven Crossin: getting the alternate reference for the name change is almost impossible. since its an govt. project, they dont clarify all these stuff. initially when the station was sanctioned, it was named Jai Hind, later they renamed it without any public notification. i am marking the station in the map- https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/492057268079165451/603642007340056581/unknown.png (i hope the image is visible, zoom it) these are taken from official website of kolkata metro. Thanks for providing this. I think we will need further people involved in the discussion - comparing the two maps, I can't see any similarity between them personally - the second updated map doesn't have any of the station names of the first map from what I can see, so I'm unable to make a determination here. @Steven Crossin: ya true, both maps arent similar, they are like a rough maps. ok, let more people involve in the discussion. but sadly there are only a few editors from kolkata and nearby areas. Saha ( talk ) 17:58, 24 July 2019 (UTC)Reply

regarding move edit

I made the "controversial move request" move request last year because-

  1. I was new back then. I wasn't bold enough.
  2. The official website of Kolkata Metro had both older and new data/maps, which created confusion.

Actually there's no such controversial thing here. Later I forgot about the renaming of the article. Here are the sources.

  • 8 May 2014 data - In the proposed station tables its mentioned, Location = Biman Bandar (it means Airport in English) and Name of station = Jai Hind. Check the 3rd map, its written Jai Hind (6.25 km). In some areas Biman Bandar was also used.
  • 5 Aug 2019 data - In the left yellow portion of map, you will find Biman Bandar mentioned in a box.

Jai Hind name isn't used anymore. The whole Noapara-Barasat (red line/line 4) stations were renamed.

This is a contested technical request (permalink). GeoffreyT2000 (talk) 19:01, 18 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
  • Last RM did not have consensus to move the page. A new RM is therefore needed. GeoffreyT2000 (talk) 19:01, 18 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
  • GeoffreyT2000, it is not controversial. also, there aren't enough contributors to this particular thing. so, it will die again. ❯❯❯   S A H A 06:34, 19 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
