I believe that he shouldn't be categorised as a classical pianist since he never really played in the classical style. He did play jazz adaptations of classical music, but this doesn't make him a classical pianist. --Missmarple 20:17, 21 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

He’s a classically conservatoire trained pianist, who has chosen to play classical repertoire in a jazz idiom - it doesn’t negate his classical background, or remove the option for someone to be more than one thing. However, it may be more useful and informative to say that his “genre” is both classical- and jazz-based. Jock123 (talk) 14:05, 12 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

More needs to be added to the section about the lawsuit Loussier filed against Eminem. It ends with the lines "He demanded that all sales of the album (The Marshall Mathers LP) be halted and any remaining copies destroyed. A trial date was set to begin in June 2004." Well, if the trial did indeed happen in 2004, then it is long over by now, and there has been a result to it. I mean, it is extremely obvious the French pianist didn't win, as the album is still in stores and little news of the trial has surfaced. But this paragraph needs an extension "pour le mieux". 2Pac 01:06, 4 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Tried to find something about that, to no avail. fr:Jacques_Loussier tells us he has won the suit, without providing a source. I suppose the suit was settled somehow, but couldn't find anything about it... -- megA 15:23, 5 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Surely these albums should be listed as “Jacques Loussier” releases, not under the “Trio” disc list, as they were not released as Trio works? There’s also a compilation CD of some of his film and TV soundtrack work - Masterworks: Les Plus Belles Musiques de Jacques Loussier [1994; Play-Time ‎– PL 9415], which is probably worth mentioning as it is the easiest way to obtain these tracks. Will do, but could do it yourself. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 20:11, 7 March 2019 (UTC)Reply

Sources for recordings

edit

Is this site acceptable? Thanks. Martinevans123 (talk) 19:00, 7 March 2019 (UTC)Reply

I'll put it under external links. I love it, but Francis Schonken had a thread on WP:RS last year. It's linked from the bio (already under external links) but if readers won't find WorldCat they won't find this either. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 20:10, 7 March 2019 (UTC)Reply

OK, thanks. But another thought - as Jacques Loussier Trio has a separate article, shouldn't all the trio recordings be moved over there and this article just have his solo recordings? Martinevans123 (talk) 20:12, 7 March 2019 (UTC)Reply

Family

edit

The French wiki article says this:

"Jacques Loussier was married to the stylist Sylvie Loussier with whom he had five children: Hélène, painter and ceramist (born in 1960); Thomas, entrepreneur (1962); Julien, industrialist (1965); Jean-Baptiste, composer (1969) Pierre, computer scientist (1969)."

But all is unsourced and I can find no online sources, even for the marriage. This is quite a major omission from the "Personal life" section. Martinevans123 (talk) 22:17, 7 March 2019 (UTC)Reply

Soundtrack for the movie "Dark of the Sun" starring Rod Taylor, Yvette Mimieux, Jim Brown and others(1968)..

I am 66 years old. I love this picture, especially the music and soundtrack performed and composed by Jacques Loussier, NOT mentioned in his biography. 47.42.191.63 (talk) 10:02, 2 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
