Name or substance? edit

This article is focussed on institutions called "Institute of Technology", "Polytechnic university", or "Technological university", which is not the way WP is supposed to be organized. Instead, WP talks about substantive topics.

Could we come up with a clearer definition of what the topic of the article actually is, to start... and probably change the title to match? That would help decide on cases like the Colorado School of Mines, Franklin W. Olin College of Engineering (which aren't called IoT, PU, TU); and Benjamin Franklin Institute of Technology, New York Institute of Technology, Wentworth Institute of Technology (which are) -- which are quite different institutions, some of which belong in this article, and some of which don't -- depending on the definition we choose. --Macrakis (talk) 12:13, 1 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

Related to the above comment, the categorization utilized in this article is not clear. How are each of the three categories defined? Based on name only? Or some substantive difference? Thanks, DA Sonnenfeld (talk) 11:15, 7 March 2015 (UTC)Reply
