Frisco Station → ? – Opening as a procedural matter as article has been moved many times, so we should figure out a stable article title. More details: I granted OrdinaryScarlett's technical move request (permalink) to revert undiscussed moves from the last longstanding title. Usually I would have declined as the last move was in 2023, but this was to correct a misspelling in the article title. Move to Frisco Station (Idabel, Oklahoma). "Frisco Station" appears to be the site's common name, and a quick search shows other potentially notable Frisco Stations in Oklahoma, so the title should be disambiguated to the city name. Move to Idabel station. WP:USSTATION is the relevant naming convention. "Frisco Station" is an improperly capitalized name invented by the NRHP listing and is not widely used elsewhere, so it's not the common name. Pi.1415926535 (talk) 19:35, 24 June 2024 (UTC)

• Move to Frisco Station (Idabel, Oklahoma). This travel site, this other travel site, and the Oklahoma Historical Society all list this building under the name "Frisco Station" (all 3 use a capital S). In contrast, my searches for "Idabel station" brought up radio stations. (The organization actually in the building, theidabelchamber.com, remains steadfastly neutral though!) - RevelationDirect (talk) 02:47, 25 June 2024 (UTC)

  @RevelationDirect: I think you mis-copied something, as both of those travel site links are the same. NRHP names (which the OHS site is listing) are not always the common names; often they are simply descriptive names with every word capitalized. Witness perhaps the most egregious example, Attleboro station, which is listed as the ungainly "Northbound and Southbound Stations".

  More importantly, looking at newspapers from when it was used as a railroad station, "Frisco Station" never appears. "Idabel station" is most common (see 1906, 1911, 1932, 1933, 1935). "Frisco station" does appear as well (1912, 1944), but clearly as a descriptive name rather than a proper name. The Frisco itself labeled it simply "Idabel" on timetables and station signage, for which "Idabel station" would then be the standard article name per WP:USSTATION.   Fixed the link, thanks! I too suspect that the reason those sites are using the name is because of the NRHP listing. While Idabel station was clearly the common name in the 1930s, I'm not sure that's the most helpful name for readers in the 2020s. But I think your position is a reasonable perspective.

  Frustratingly, I wasn't able to find any news mentions our official name from the chamber, which is what I would normally use to base my recommendation. RevelationDirect (talk) 10:23, 25 June 2024 (UTC)

Move to Idabel station, Frisco is too generic for the railroad it served and adding the location in parenthesis after Frisco adds unnecessary disambiguation when a unique and valid identifier is available. Cards84664 01:10, 26 June 2024 (UTC)

Move to Idabel station per WP:USSTATION and the evidence provided by Pi above. The name "Frisco Station" appears to have come about because it's derived from the railroad's name, akin to all the Pennsylvania Railroad stations on the East Coast known as "Penn Station". "Frisco Station" isn't a descriptive name for a station in Idabel, OK, whereas "Idabel station" is. – Epicgenius (talk) 19:14, 7 July 2024 (UTC)
