I have corrected Hugh's father's name from Hugh to George. I am aware that he is listed as Hugh in Whyte's "Scottish Emigrants to the U.S.A." of 1903 and that this error has been copied elsewhere. He was however baptised and married (twice) as George and was generally referred to as such in his lifetime and in at least two published biographies.
