Thanks for the hint. I think I may also need this too. Dr.K. 03:25, 16 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Seriously though, it's got some helpful points. Thanks. Dr.K. 03:49, 16 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

There is a contradiction in this article: in the caption of the picture it says he was born in Uruguay and that his citizenship was Uruguayan. In the article, it says he was born in Madison, and that he was American. Please correct the one that is not right. [User: Dr.L.R.L.] 04:16, 4 May 2014. English pronunciation edit

Is there really an english pronunciation for his name? I think we just fucked his name up, but that doesn't make it correct. What makes sense to me is that boh-dah is the correct pronunciation, and lots of people mutilate his name - especially over in america. Fresheneesz 07:38, 6 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Yes there is. His colleagues at Bell Labs used to call him using the English version. He apparently did not object. The english version is also used in North American universities. His family however preferred the dutch version. This information is from the "In memoriam" citation of the IEEE given in the article. It is telling that the author of the "In memoriam" paper mentions that someone must mention the different ways to pronounce the name so that wrong pronunciations such as the one rhyming with the word abode can be avoided. This is why I included it in the article. Dr.K. 00:30, 21 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

What just happened? The most recent edit claims that the correct English pronouciation is "Bode not Bode-dee". Apart from disagreeing with the reference provided, who in their right mind would ever think it was Bode-dee? If no-one objects, I will revert this. Dajp (talk) 09:16, 26 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

Right, it's been a week and no-one's objected, so I'm reverting the last change.Dajp (talk) 12:42, 3 August 2012 (UTC)Reply
I just saw this vandalism. Thank you for fixing it. Δρ.Κ. λόγοςπράξις 02:47, 18 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

tone edit

Good content, but way too much of cheerleader tone. Too conversational.

Well I guess given enough typewriters and keys to press anything can happen. But surely this ain't a football game. Dr.K. (talk) 07:17, 17 November 2007 (UTC)Reply
But seriously, I appreciate your comment about the content. Thanks. As far as the other part, although I disagree I will doublecheck just in case. Dr.K. (talk) 08:13, 17 November 2007 (UTC)Reply
