Recreation of Google Docs Page

This page was created by splitting the current Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides page. I also created pages for Google Sheets, Google Slides, and Google Forms. The Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides page still exists, but I propose deleting that article if we can arrive at a consensus. All information was retained and nothing added in the split. This brings the structure of these products in line with how code fuzz in shopAdobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office products are structured on Wikipedia. It is also intended to clear up use of "Google Docs" in reference to all Google Drive apps collectively when it references only the word processor app in the Google Drive Suite. Merger proposal

SBCornelius, I propose that Google Sheets, Google Slides, Google Drawings and Google Forms be merged into Google Docs. Google host ALL of those services under the [1] domain, which clearly implies they are a part of Google Docs, see [2] [3] [4] [5]. Many sections of Google Sheets, Google Slides and Google Docs are almost the same or are identical to each other. All these services are apart of "Google Docs" but "Google Docs" also referers to the word editor, which would have a section in the broader "Google Docs" article.– BrandonXLF ^(t@lk) 13:43, 22 November 2018 (UTC)

BrandonXLF, thanks for the input. The discussion of the individual apps seemed somewhat limited when these articles were merged on the old Docs, Sheets, and Slides page. Even though there are similarities in the articles as they are today, those differences will lessen as edits are made and each article grows on its own. This structure also mirrors the exact article structure used for Adobe, Microsoft, and other similar software companies -- company article (Google, Adobe Systems, Microsoft), suite or cloud access article (Google Drive, Adobe Creative Suite, Adobe Creative Cloud, Microsoft Office), and articles for individual apps or programs (Google Docs, Google Sheets, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Microsoft Powerpoint, Microsoft Excel). Also, both Adobe and Microsoft host all products on the same domain or subdomain as well.

When signed in and using one of the apps like Sheets, you will be on docs.google.com/spreadsheets/, but the use of the docs subdomain here is just technical debt. The old combined article for Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides reflected what the apps were a decade ago, but I think moving to the structure used for Microsoft and Adobe is a better way to organize the information about how the Drive Suite is used today. SBCornelius, Like Adobe and Microsoft Office, there's an article about the entire suite, Google doesn't currently have one, I think if they're to be separate there should be an article about all of them (the suite as an whole). Do you know what this should be called, I was thinking Google Apps as that seams the closest to an official name

BrandonXLF, that's a good idea and it does bring things into a more uniform structure. I'll plan on working an a Google Apps article and remove the merger request on this article. Thanks for the input. SBCornelius (talk) 19:16, 30 November 2018 (UTC)

i agree with SBCornelius, they are different products that are also part of a suite of services. the Microsoft Office has articles for the suite as well as for each product; the same should be the case for Google Drive suite – i wouldn't merge them. danBLOO (talk) 18:50, 4 December 2018 (UTC)

• Oppose since this would make it confusing which is the Product Google Docs and which is the office suite Google Docs. The functionality, history, purpose, design, presentation, and usage of all these products are distinct and notable enough to merit separate articles. Google Docs (suite)

@SBCornelius: I think we should create a paged called Google Docs (suite) that would cover the general topic of Google Docs, Sheets et cetera. This article be like how Microsoft Office covers the general topic of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint et cetera. Having a dedicated article is much better that having multiple selections in different articles that cover this (Google Drive, G Suite, Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Slides). – BrandonXLF (t@lk) 04:57, 30 March 2019 (UTC)
