editAllen was the son of Cecil J. Allen, who we don't seem to have an article on. --Redrose64 (talk) 17:22, 22 August 2010 (UTC)
Obituary in The Guardian
editI'm not too sure about the accuracy of that Guardian obit - the name "Ian Allan" is mis-spelled "Ian Allen" twice, and the phrase "joined the family publishing business, the Ian Allan organisation" implies that G. Freeman Allen was part of Ian Allan's family - he was not: there was no relation, merely a tenuous coincidence of names.
The anecdote about the senior BR manager being sacked for writing I Tried to Run a Railway appears to be true - the author in question was Gerry Fiennes, More at Talk:Gerry Fiennes#I Tried to Run a Railway. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 09:53, 24 July 2021 (UTC)
