Incorrect Photo
editHello,
The Group photo of Luftwaffe officers in Hague from 17 July, 1940, did not show General Friedrich Christiansen. Despite the same incorrect description is on the german Wikipedia, the general officer in the photo is NOT General Friedrich Christiansen.
There are obvious evidence, why officer in the photo is not Christiansen:
- Incorrect collar tabs, which shows the rank of only Generalmajor. Christiansen held the rank of General der Flieger at the time.
- The officer in the photo do not wear the highly regarded decorations of Pour le Mérite, which was awarded to Christiansen on December 11, 1917 for his World War I service.
- The officer in the photo wears the Wound Badge from World War I. Christian was never officialy wounded during the combat, thus he was not eligible for this decoration.
- The officer in the photo wears the Prussian Observer's Badge. Christiansen served with the Imperial German Navy and thus he was awarded with German Navy Seaplane Pilot’s Badge
On the basis of this evidence, I will delete the photo, because it is not relevant for this article.
