Should this article really be titled "Financial Regulator"? that seems to me to be a generic term whcih could apply to any egulator, where as this is specifically about the Irish one. shouldn't the main page to which redirects are aimed be called "Irish Financial Services Regulatory Authority"? I do not believe their is a need to disambiguate the title, having said that of their is an overiding need then Financial Regulator (Ireland) maybe the most appropriate. I believe their is not a need, because in general such named regulators tend more often to use additional works such as "agency", "authority", "commission", "service", "supervisory" and such in addition to financial regulator - indeed in many cases financial regulator is not used togetheir. I disagree and think the name should be changed because of the ambiguity of the current title. I know this has partially been resolved with the use of WP:OTEU template and with the Financial regulator in lower case redirecting to Financial regulation. Also as a government agency Wikipedia:Naming conventions (government and legislation) arguably could apply however, there is an exception for Irland in this convention. But I still think it would be better to rename. Sargdub (talk) 05:50, 12 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Merge with Central Bank of Ireland article? edit

Should the separate "Financial Regulator" article referring to the IFSRA now be merged with that on the Central Bank of Ireland given the commencing of the Central Bank Reform Act, 2010, which replaced the Central Bank and the Financial Services Authority of Ireland with effect from October 1st? The "Financial Regulator" as a quasi-separate entity would seem to have ceased to exist from that date. Deathpool4 (talk) 05:48, 11 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

I think that as a matter of editorial convention (i.e. for clarity of reference based oon treied and true practice) this entry should either be renamed to indicate its Irish focus or should form part of an entry describing national financial regulators worldwide. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 62.77.183.49 (talk) 11:53, 29 March 2011 (UTC)Reply
