Radical feminism edit

Are radical feminist subject to criticisms from other feminists’ about being over the top with their view points on sexuality? Also if such feminism is censored by others in the movement does that defeat the purpose of what feminism is actually fighting for? I do think there is less abrasiveness in depth than what is done on the outside and how others not in the movement view it.Sberkley (talk) 19:58, 9 September 2016 (UTC)Reply

Feminist view on the Kama Sutra ? edit

I'm not sure in which category I could post my question, I'm not even sure whether I'm posting this into the right category now - but there is a question that has arisen during my thoughts I have never seen discussed or mentioned here in Wikipedia : What is the Feminist view on that "Kama Sutra" book ? I haven't read it yet, but it appears to be a book being quite centered on the idea of giving women sexual pleasure. I wonder mainly about the fact that it is so much centered around women ... Apart from the fact that there are´hardly ever texts´surviving or written (or both) by women from ancient times (the question whether women were educated enough, repressed not to write, or even not thought to be "worthy" of being published within any patriachal culture is a completely different question), I don't ever remember a women having written - even in modern times - a book like this. The question I have is simple : Why is this ? If the goal of Feminism - which I'm trying to follow as well - is to bring both women and men to a point where both are equal - apart from physics - then I do wonder why men are so often writing on certain themes and women not so much. Or, to say it in different words : Why are books on some topics written rather by members of one gender and not so much by members of another gender ? Where does this focus come from and why does it still remain during contemporary times ? One example is that songs one can hear on the radio are often about women (love songs, for example) when the songs are made by men, but there are far fewer songs made by women which have men as their mein theme. I only know very few women who did actual love songs about men. Another really weird thing I noticed at one point is that there are so many music bands consisting of men doing the actual music with a woman as the singer - but I do not know a single music band which has women doing the actual music with a man as the singer. I never understood why this is so. Same with the Kama Sutra : It is ancient - written at a time, I assume, when there were few women writing texts which survived until now, no matter why (I assume "writing women" were simply not wanted by men), but from all ancient literature I know - and I do know only very little of that - I have never seen a text written by a woman centered on the idea of giving a man sexual pleasure. It might have been "transferred knowledge" - which was never written down - among women, I could imagine. In a men-centered society, this might not even be wanted by men - no matter why - but if I turn this around by 180 degrees, I do wonder why men are so much centered on the idea of giving a man sexual pleasure. I mean, it's literally one-sided, it seems to me. Men are supposed to be active - because being able to perform active deeds is often considered as a sign of manhood - meanwhile women are often shown to be rather passive. - The underlying question is : Is being passive something preferable in terms of sexual intercourse ? And I wonder why this is so in literature even today - with few exceptions. Why there is no "female equivalent" of the Kama Sutra ? And what do women think about why the Kama Sutra is focussing so much on women ? - Additional note : Lysistrata, although a heavily women-centered story, was even written by a man. (Edit : I bet I get a few "facepalms" by people after reading my text here because I'm so much uneducated ... ;) ) Alrik Fassbauer (talk) 14:54, 1 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

While I salute your quest for knowledge, this is an article talk page, and exists to help improve the article itself. You may wish to post your question at Wikipedia:Reference desk/Miscellaneous, which acts as a library help desk. Or it should, anyway. Carbon Caryatid (talk) 15:28, 2 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

Proposed merge with Feminist views on sexual orientation edit

This article appears to have been fully transclude into the target article, which suggests there is no purpose in keeping them seperate. Ethanpet113 (talk) 11:17, 20 October 2018 (UTC)Reply

Eh, Ethanpet113? The Feminist views on sexuality article is already big enough as it is, and the Feminist views on sexual orientation article is specifically about sexual orientation. Flyer22 Reborn (talk) 11:23, 20 October 2018 (UTC)Reply
Okay, looking at the "Feminism and sexual orientation" section of the Feminist views on sexuality article, I see what you mean. Flyer22 Reborn (talk) 11:25, 20 October 2018 (UTC)Reply
