Death date?

What evidence is there that Jean Alliette died in 1791? I ask because Alexandre Dumas wrote in "Horror At Fontenay" that he met him in person in 1809. --Justificatus (talk) 11:32, 15 July 2020 (UTC)

Personal Life

Two of the three given 'citations' are simply not strong enough to substantiate the claim they make. His father was a maître rôtisseur--a caterer. "Way to recreate yourself"

I do not think this is a good translation, and I think we should say "way to entertain yourself", because "recreate yourself" suggests some sort of rebuilding or reinventing process. user:Nightsturm apparently disagrees and has reverted my edits, saying only "recreate, for the translation of French récréer", and I would like to know the reasoning behind that, if any.  Card Zero  (talk) 16:16, 29 July 2023 (UTC)

Recreate is an appropriate translation of the original French word récréer (to recreate) used in Etteilla's French book title on the Tarot. It implies having fun with an activity as well as refreshing, restoring, or reanimating oneself or something after toil or exhaustion.
