- No it shouldn't. You don't know Dutch spelling conventions, and it's commonly done wrong in English sources. I'm not saying there are no cases where people self-identify with these alternative spellings or the English name is different from the Dutch name, but here it's just wrong. Esther De Jong → Esther de Jong – This move, apparently on unsubstantiated request of the unsigned editor above, frankly should not have been conducted. In Dutch naming, a tussenvoegsel is never capitalized when the full name is used. Many Anglicized versions of Dutch names do use capital letters, but De Jong is a Dutch person, making this a misapplication of those substandard norms. Reliable sources support this (and probably actually checked it with her—[1], [2], [3]). Prinsgezinde (talk) 00:06, 16 June 2018 (UTC)
- Support – this capping of De is manglement of the name, whether in Dutch or English. Dicklyon (talk) 03:39, 16 June 2018 (UTC)
- Support – restore to correct spelling per WP:DUTCHNAMES. In ictu oculi (talk) 06:32, 16 June 2018 (UTC)
- Support. This shouldn't have "De" except for someone (probably North American, British, Australian, or otherwise just "of Dutch extraction" X ancestors back), who is known for a fact to consistently spelling it "De Jong". — SMcCandlish ☏ ¢ 😼 11:34, 17 June 2018 (UTC)
