Birth date

edit

Her birth date is controversial just like that of her brother Oktay. If the year 1934 is correct for Oktay and 1942 for Esin, both born in Bari, we are witnessing an extraordinarily long posting at that Italian city for their diplomat father. I have doubts on this (serving 8 years in one city), even though some of this period coincides with war years... --E4024 (talk) 19:04, 11 December 2012 (UTC)Reply

That means we have a problem with the conflicting sources. According to my sources her birth date is 1936, and according to CeeGee' sources, it is 1942. But there are two inderect ways of checking. Esin Afşar was a stage artist for the first 12 years of career. Since she began singing no later than 1968 (no question on that) that means she began working in the theatre in 1956 or before. If she was born in 1942, that means she began working professionally while she was still 14 in a government sponsered institution. Is this possible ? And also please check this link [1] This photo is about the siblings Oktay and Esin. If Esin was born in 1942, Esin must be 8 years younger than her brother who was born in 1934. Do you think there is an 8 yr. age difference between these kids? (By the way according to CeeGee's source she was 75 when she died, which agrees with 1936) I think the correct answer is 1936. Take her one step down and she is still as tall as her older brother. No chances for an 8 year difference. (My OR. Dr. E. :-) --E4024 (talk) 19:48, 11 December 2012 (UTC)Reply
Forget your POV. What only count is a reference of reliable source. Please refrain from further reverts. CeeGee 15:28, 12 December 2012 (UTC)
Sure Yes I can forget my POV. But I can't forget mathematics. Esin Afşar was 75 when she died. Who says so ? CeeGee's source Namely Turkish Daily News[2].Well since she died in 2011 the birth date is clearly, 2011-75=1936.This date agrees with all the other sources. 1942 which also appears on Turkish Daily News must be a misprint and nothing else. Since this is an encyclopaedia and we editors are tasked with presenting the correct information, her birth date should be given as 1936. Nedim Ardoğa (talk) 16:15, 12 December 2012 (UTC)Reply
1942 could be "her" POV (PBUH). Why should I have a POV on a singer's birth date? My only POV was I liked her singing... --E4024 (talk) 16:20, 12 December 2012 (UTC)Reply
E4024. Note that you revert her birth date referenced by reliable sources [1] and [2]. You deleted the newly added latter reference as well. The only thing remaining to do for me is to report your and User:nedim Ardoğa's collobrate revertings to Administrators' noticeboard/Edit warring. CeeGee 13:42, 14 December 2012 (UTC)Reply
There are many sources which give the birth date as 1936. I don't know what we are discussing. Please check the following.[3] before reporting to administrators. Nedim Ardoğa (talk) 14:46, 14 December 2012 (UTC)Reply
