Fly me with balloons

I can't stop listening to the replays with that song! Foday 06:20, 10 June 2006 (UTC)

  • You have good taste KurtKocaine
  • This isn't a fan forum.

ALIENWARE

im pretty sure that his demand was either dell or alienware

-yea... it was alienware

Genius?

Shouldn't the article mention that Eric Lynch has an IQ of 175 and invented the self-cleaning toilet? MGlosenger 01:46, 30 June 2006 (UTC)

Do you have any verification of this?

These aren't quotes

  • "Ughhde!!"
  • "Ernnnn!!"
  • "Egehhk!!"
  • "Unkgh!!"
  • "Eeehhh!!"

Eric says "uh" a lot but Sal and others greatly exaggerate his grunting and there is no way these are quotes. Foday 22:32, 30 June 2006 (UTC)

Photoshopped astronaut pictures

I removed them as they are a bit too silly. Foday 22:39, 30 June 2006 (UTC)

Someday Eric will fly into space and it won't seem so silly then. MGlosenger 05:15, 1 July 2006 (UTC)
I agree the photoshopped pictures shouldn't appear but as long as we're talking about the baloon stunt, there is controversy as to the playing of the ETM cartoon on HSOD. Also there is another story in the Richard Christy "Romper the Clown" call and the backlash of text messages which ensued. The text messages in full originally read "You're a fucking retarded hick asshole" to which Richard replied "why?" Eric responded "For making dumbass bits."
Speaking of pictures, there are several from his myspace page which shows him on the set of American Dreams with the cast and crew. The pictures are pretty good and they show Eric in his Powerchair.
It should also be discussed that the only stern-staffer who eric not only can get along with but actually sees as his only friend working on the show is Benji Brock. Its probably because he's rarely on and therefor gets no opportunities to ridicule Eric.
Goes without saying that this page is really well done. It wouldn't surprise me to see it become a featured article next week.--Meltzer 18:48, 3 July 2006 (UTC)

I'll clean this tommorow

I cleaned the High Pitch Eric page today, I'll do this page tommorow.

I moved this back from "Eric the Astronaut Diminutive Actor"

No one is going to look up "Eric the Astronaut Diminutive Actor". We don't need to move this page every time he gets a new nickname as long as he is primarily known as "Eric the Midget". Foday 20:30, 9 October 2006 (UTC)

Eric is notable!

"Eric the Midget" (in quotes) gets 14,000 results on Google. If you aren't a fan, read some other article. Yes, it needs cleanup, but not deletion or to be merged into the Wack Pack article which is already too long. Foday 05:56, 1 October 2006 (UTC)

Foday, I am not supporting deletion, or merging. The article should stay. I am simply reminding us (through the use of this tag) that we have to establish notability. google hits alone aren't enough. Please read the tag about how we can site reliable sources. --Bill.matthews 02:56, 5 October 2006 (UTC)
Wikipedia:Notability (people)

This article is notable, as it passes:

  • The person made a widely recognized contribution that is part of the enduring historical record in their specific field. (History of Howard Stern Show)
  • Notable actors and television personalities who have appeared in well-known films or television productions. Notability can be determined by:
    • A large fan base, fan listing or "cult" following.

As you say here and here, you are not "supporting deletion, or merging. The article should stay." You also stated you don't believe The Wack Pack should be deleted either. As such, the tag you implemented at these various locations is incorrect.

Citing reliable sources is needed, and a tag for that is currently in place for the article in question. Since the Notability tag is a precursor for deletion or merging, and you have stated that is not your aim or intention, I am removing it. However, I do encourage others to cite sources and improve this article. --Bark 15:02, 5 October 2006 (UTC)

I'm also confused about your opinion on the "Google Test". You seem to not support it here, but you seem to support it on the O&A Army page. --Bark 17:26, 5 October 2006 (UTC)

Eric History

\Actually the The thing I'd like to try and add is historical context for Eric including how he first came to the show, and how he established himself. The farthest back I remember him is around the time of the move (2004,2005), does anyone have a better estimate? It's important to note how he came to the show, and to establish how his identity on the show initially came to be.(Optigan13 21:14, 13 March 2007 (UTC))

Eric's first appearance was sometime around 1999 I believe. I know Marks friggin talks about it, but you'll have to hunt it down.Hoponpop69 00:12, 21 March 2007 (UTC)

The first appearance I could find was on Mark's Friggin(MF) on the September 2002 date I put. The way MF described it that was Lynch's first appearance, at least the first where he was recognized and called Eric the Midget. I think the next thing I saw that needs to be put in is Stern's attempts to get Lynch dates. I'm just trying to fill out Eric's back story so it doesn't have as much bias towards recent stuff. Optigan13 05:22, 12 April 2007 (UTC)

Busty Bri and Triple D Brandy

I didn't think this was worth it's own section, however since it was designated a section I cleaned it up and added sources. 20:59, 24 April 2007 (UTC)

I gave it it's own section until we could figure out what was going on. I'll try and clean up and refine the cites some more later today. You need to change the name of the citation, right now you re-used the 2007-01-04 cite, so the citation from that date is out of whack. Optigan13 21:04, 24 April 2007 (UTC)

Sorry about that Optigan, I'll fix the citation for today's date. (Tofilmfan 22:49, 24 April 2007 (UTC))

I just removed it, it's over the top and not notable. Remember this is a Living Person, show a little bit of restraint. LilDice 23:58, 24 April 2007 (UTC)

You and I always butt heads over what ever is notable. This is a big deal within the Stern community, Eric admitting his choice of porn and how he masturbates. If the staff brings it up tomorrow I'm going to re add it. Tofilmfan 04:18, 25 April 2007 (UTC)

Remember to assume good faith from each other, you both care about the show and improving the article, its just difference in opinion. Even though it may be a big deal to Stern fans we need to keep it within bio notability and BLP guidelines. The rundown from today didn't mention wikipedia, specific pornstars, or masturbation beyond that he does it in bed[1]. I think that we become so immersed in listening every day, and tend to write where someone who wouldn't know the show would get lost or care about some of this minutiae. The rundowns and mark's friggin citations we put in aren't generally considered as reliable sources, or proof of notability, and the articles are easily deleted. I don't want to put a lot of work in, only to have an article deleted for BLP or notability concerns. That's why I wanted to merge the stupid bowl a while back, it and some other TV articles are kinda of floating around on their own, and could easily get picked off one by one or just plain lost. They should get merged into one comprehensive TV article. We should have a select tight group of articles about the Stern Show. It is easier to maintain and improve them, they are much better connected, are much less likely to get deleted or lost among the shuffle.Optigan13 05:00, 25 April 2007 (UTC)
I'm not sure I've ever butted heads with you, unless you're using a different account (which I think you may be doing judging from the contribs on your current account). Anyway, ETM is a living person and your edit seemed to me to be not notable and only put in to humiliate him further. LilDice 11:26, 25 April 2007 (UTC)
I thnink there was some minor disagreement over inclusion in one of the articles, but I can't seem to find it. Also that wasn't Tolimfan's edit, I moved the Brandi mention there. It was added a couple times by IP editors on the 24th, but those edits were mixed in with all the vandalism. I gave it a section and kept it since people were peppering that info all over the article, and I hadn't even heard what exactly he said or how much it mattered. Optigan13 04:59, 26 April 2007 (UTC)

All are good points Opt, I disagreed with you regarding the stupid bowl because their are a lot of other articles regarding half time specials that have articles. I looked at the stupid bowl as a separate entity, apart from the Howard Stern Show. I disagree with you on the rundown not being a reliable source. I mean it is the only documented source of the show, and it is on the official website, what more do you want?

Anyways with regards to the incident that took place today, we'll see if it is discussed on up coming shows. (Tofilmfan 05:09, 25 April 2007 (UTC))

It's not really an issue of what I think about the rundowns or mark's friggin, those are fine for me when there is a dispute between fans those are fine. The issue is when people from the general Wikipedia community come in and review the articles. I wasn't really thinking of merging stupid bowl into the main show page as I was thinking of splitting the Stern Show page's sections on the TV shows and the film fest into an article with stupid bowl and Howard Stern's New Year's Rotten Eve. The main show page is getting big, and those two are kind of small. So you would have this overlap between stern show, a tv show page, and a games and bits page. Optigan13 05:36, 25 April 2007 (UTC)

what's your problem Optigan13?

Why do you feel compelled to delete and tinker with the article? The paragraphs that you deleted contribute to Eric's character and would help non Stern fans understand what kind of person Eric is. (Tofilmfan 21:27, 1 May 2007 (UTC))

I deleted your edits, they are not notable. LilDice 23:39, 1 May 2007 (UTC)
Sorry, but while Eric asking to be roasted and requesting a hit are interesting, I don't think they are notable because they aren't really central to who he is on the show. I'm going on a break for a while so go nuts with additions and changes, just work it out with the other editors. If you have any constructive criticism of my work leave it on my talk page. Optigan13 05:03, 8 May 2007 (UTC)

Cleanup

Folks, this is an encylopedia, not a fan site. Although I believe Eric the Midget deserves an article, we do not need a day by day recap of his appearances, negotiations, etc. The The Sal and Richard agreement section seems the worst. --Bill.matthews 18:13, 28 September 2006 (UTC)

I agree. In order to clean up this article, the day to day summary of that Eric did every time he called in to the Stern Show should be replaced with an overall summary of what happened in the past. The Sal and Richard agreement should be in the article but it should be cleaned up. Plus, I wonder if it was Eric The Midget himself who put up all of those Wikipedia banners stating how poorly written this article is.

I agree. Even Stern himself doesn't have this much minutia. This is an encyclopedia, not Stern Fan Network --SteveGardner

So the issue at hand is not notability, rather readability and conciseness? If not then maybe I'm missing the point? Who brought up notability anyway? If this is a case of someone who is notable getting an article "too big for his britches" then put that instead of bringing his notability into question. By the way, the article isn't that badly written. We'll make a good page of you yet. Its also noted that the "eric bangs tabitha" cartoon is up on youtube.com and is probably of interest to those researching eric (why would you?).

I cleaned up the article in general.. personally, I like the detailed timeline. I think it establishes Eric's hypocritical attitude towards the show nicely. I'd say it's 'cleaned up', myself.. MGlosenger 10:26, 25 November 2006 (UTC)

I added citations using the show rundowns and infobox, but I'm not certain the show rundowns are ok as the only source. I'm not sure about the infobox to use from the People_infobox_templates selections, I'm going between actor as he likes to call himself, celebrity, and person. This article still needs to be trimmed as you can see from all the citations I included. This thing still reads like a long running list of events instead of a broad biography. Optigan13 06:37, 5 February 2007 (UTC)

I am believe the article should remain. People who do not know about Eric the Midget may want to look up and read about why he is in the situations he is currently in on the Stern Show. Maybe there should be separate articles for each major event. Chris01720 06:14, 21 March 2007 (UTC)

Clearly Eric the Midget is a person of interest who is worthy of having his own Wikipedia page. 12:59, 22 March 2007 (UTC)

Removed minor vandalism. --GG The Fly 05:15, 16 May 2007 (UTC)

I would like like to see a blip about the law suit he tried to bring on stern, how he tried to solicit lawyers with offers of commercials and adds in exchange for pro bono work 67.81.255.39 08:35, 18 September 2007 (UTC)

I don't think so, it's just a blip after all. If there was media coverage that'd be on thing. Otherwise, it's not notable. Lil' Dice (yeah, I said it!) - talk 23:34, 18 September 2007 (UTC)

What is a "constructive edit"

Discussion of the pitch, tone and timbre of Eric's voice = Constructive Discussion of how the show reacted to Eric's abortion of an "Idol" wrap-up = Constructive Discussion of how Eric reacts to the new names = Constructive Wikipedia vigilantes = non-constructive. Dkendr (talk) 17:37, 25 January 2008 (UTC)

Users Editing this Page

Some users have taken it upon themselves to remove contributions from this page which are either unflattering to Eric Lynch or contrary to positions he has taken. Such selective edits are unacceptable and contrary to Wikipedia guidelines. Dkendr (talk) 17:38, 25 January 2008 (UTC)

Balloon events

should they all be grouped into the same category?

Yes they should, I think I'm going to reorganize the page to work that way. Otherwise this reads as a day to day journal of every call he makes. (Optigan13 06:30, 6 February 2007 (UTC))

Wasn't the Fly Me With Balloons song sung by Shuli not Sal? It sure sounds more like Shuli who usually does the Eric impressions. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.43.111.208 (talk) 21:45, 14 September 2007 (UTC)

"Fly Me With Balloons" was Fred through a voice processor. Dkendr (talk) 17:38, 25 January 2008 (UTC)

Occupation

Radio personality? He calls in as a fan to a radio show. In no way is that a job. I didn't want to edit this myself but I think it should be changed to "Unemployed" --The Lone Bard (talk) 15:35, 23 January 2008 (UTC)

He appears frequently on the radio, and he most definitely has a unique personality. Besides, if it wasn't "radio personality" it would have to be "SSI collector". Chris01720 (talk) 05:04, 4 February 2008 (UTC)

Utter Boredom

Is Eric's American Idol commentary show noteworthy enough to have it's own section? It seems to be a major piece of who Eric is on the Stern Show. Also, does anybody else think his appearance on the webcam is notable enough to have it's own section, mentioning his hand, acne/rash, etc? I would think that such a section would definitely pertain to who Eric is on the show. The show's cast didn't realize just how unfortunate Eric's disabilities are until the webcam. Chris01720 (talk) 09:48, 12 February 2008 (UTC)

Lynch's Girlfriend Kendra

I noticed that info about Eric's girlfriend, Kendra, has been removed from the article. Kendra has been the focus of discussion on the show for over a week. In my opinion it seems to be important enough to deserve mentioning in the article. True, it is not essential to explaining Eric's role on the show, but why does this article have to be restricted to just that? Chris01720 (talk) 21:17, 20 January 2008 (UTC)

One of Eric's sock puppets edits this article to remove anything he considers uncouth, unflattering, or uncomfortable. Typical for Eric. Dkendr (talk) 11:01, 25 January 2008 (UTC)

Is this true? I've noticed that a ton of edits have been made recently, many of which have deleted very important information. Other edits seem to be purposely made in order to enhance Eric's reputation. If that's the case, the attention of an admin might be a good idea. X3210 (talk) 07:34, 29 January 2008 (UTC)
Has anybody noticed a pattern of people removing relevant info about Eric? There are some positives about Eric, and I think that some people are legitimately trying to add those positives...WP:UNDUE. Chris01720 (talk) 11:48, 1 February 2008 (UTC)
Would it be noteworthy to make mention of their "relationship" on Kendra's wikipedia article? Chris01720 (talk) 05:02, 4 February 2008 (UTC)

Is Eric's girlfriend Kendra Wilkinson? Wilkinson's website has the same stats as kendrassecret.com, but neither site makes mention of the other. Chris01720 (talk) 10:00, 12 February 2008 (UTC)

Langford's Investigative Story

The "informant" that Langford refers to in his story is "Patrick", not "Paul" as this entry states. "Patrick" has been mentioned many times by both Langford, as well as Eric & Johnny Fratto - I don't think I've ever heard the name "Paul" thrown around. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.130.114.206 (talk) 05:07, 6 March 2008 (UTC)

Eric no longer doing taxi driver

On May 22, 2008 Eric announced that he renegged on his promise to do Colin Quinn's remake of Taxi Driver. He stated that he isn't doing it anymore because he is sick of being proded about it by Stern fans in his online chat rooms. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.166.132.2 (talk) 17:22, 23 May 2008 (UTC)

Incorrect reference under the Johnny Fratto fight. The actress' name is "Brandy Talore." —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.75.128.49 (talk) 23:52, 22 August 2008 (UTC)

Eric order's a hit

Who deleted that section? That is a pretty significant event for Eric, ordering that. If him wanting to be roasted is worthy of a paragraph...so is that. I'm gonna re add it.

I better not sign my name, I don't wanna suffer the same fate as Jerry. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Tofilmfan (talkcontribs) 05:47, 13 March 2007 (UTC).

  • Walk through the history section to see who deleted it.[2] I understand the logic. This same issue came up with "The Howard" thing. We don't need to add day to day summaries of the show, that is what the rundowns or Mark's friggin are for. American Idol, balloons, and his general history of what most consider being an ingrate is important to he is, and were established over long periods of time. One or two days of wanting to be roasted or to have someone bumped off is a little more questionable. For me the same holds true of the nicknames section, it has become sprawling, and people just try to beat each other to see how many nicknames they can put up first. I'm planning on either removing nicks or moving them into footnotes, since that attracts listcruft. Also as you can seen, even if you don't sign your posts a person or a bot might sign it for you. (Optigan13 08:25, 13 March 2007 (UTC))
    • Thanks Optigan13, I was indeed the one who removed it, and cited why in the history. If you feel it's significant then I won't revert, but we should review it a month or two from now for historical significance. This article has a history of growing with every call Eric makes. --Bill.matthews 11:55, 13 March 2007 (UTC)
    • Well it has been a while, can we agree that this went nowhere and we can pull Eric's hit request. It doesn't really to appear to have become central to who he is.Optigan13 04:46, 27 April 2007 (UTC)
    • I agree that it isn't essential to who he is on the show, but I think it's notable enough to have a sentence or two somewhere in the article mentioning it. Chris01720 (talk) 21:19, 20 January 2008 (UTC)

Eric the Midget is a dynamic character. To fully understand who and what he is, people should know specific things that he has said or done. Eric ordering a hit is one of his most famous actions. Including the order to hit in the article could only help a reader better understand who he is. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.7.114.164 (talk) 01:10, 20 September 2008 (UTC)

Eric the Midget to fly with balloons.

As of this date, sources confirm Eric the Midget will "fly with balloons". This is the much sought after stunt that Eric has agreed to perform several times, but backed out on. Sources say the stunt will be announced on the Howard Stern show on Jan.9th and the stunt itself is due to take place on Jan.27th in Las Vegas, NV. Eric "the midget" Lynch, gained fame by making appearances on the Howard Stern show as a member of the "Whack Pack", a group of misfits usually made fun of on the show. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Pedipower (talkcontribs) 18:15, 27 December 2008 (UTC)

Bart Simpson??

Was just over at the bart simpson wikipedia page, and noticed that it said Eric "The Midget" Lynch is the voice of Bart. I think we should add a section covering this seeing as Bart has been a household name for over 30 years. Wayne —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.43.138.19 (talk) 04:49, 6 March 2009 (UTC)

Yeah, right. Barts voice is done by a female who kinda "changes her voice" a bit in pitch and makes it a tick nasal, so it sounds like Bart. Her name is Nancy ... something. Lol Eric as Bart. Has the same size though. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.59.217.174 (talk) 11:45, 11 December 2010 (UTC)

No longer on the show

Since Eric the Midget has been formally removed from the show by Howard Stern (as of the November 8 2010 episode of the daily live radio show), the voice of the article should be changed to the past tense.

Reference: (Howard Stern's official webpage)

Besides, he is unknown outside of the Howard Stern universe.... severe notability issues exist - Eric the Midget should be an entry in a longer wack pack article, and not have his own entry.

Well I can't agree on that, at least not on the part about the "Whack Pack-only" thing. Eric's been a recurring character for years now, and quit like a thousand times only to come back to leave again and come back and so on and on... So who KNOWS if it's final or he just ranted again, got upset with them "arrogant pricks" (one of his most-used terms) and 'll call again in a month or two? Edit request from Rawest, 29 March 2011

Please add the following text to the existing "===Leaving the show===" section.

On March 29, 2011 Eric stated that he was "announcing complete retirement from the show" to Howard 100 News Staffer [[3]]. Eric stated that after almost 4 months it finally occurred to him that providing interviews to the News department was still participating in the show. However, in closing he did tell Shuli that they could still text each other, thus leading Shuli to predict that we would be hearing from Eric within two weeks.

Proposed Deletion

Everything done and said on the Howard Stern Show is meticulously cataloged by fan sites. Eric the Midget's repeated mention on these sites does not make him notable in a general way. VegetativePup (talk) 17:56, 30 October 2009 (UTC)

I'd have to agree with this...he does not warrant an article at all much less one this long. Vaginsh (talk) 16:52, 15 November 2009 (UTC)

I disagree with the proposed deletion. Eric calls into the show at least once a week. Usually his calls last up to 30 minutes sometimes. He's probably the most frequent and notable regular caller. The show also regularly covers events in Eric's life outside of the show. The TV show TMZ on TV even reported on Eric's activities at one point. Given that he's appeared on cable TV (TMZ) and network television (a brief role on American Dreams), and has become a staple on the Stern show, I think there is good reason for him to have an article on here for people who may hear of him, but do not know anything about him. Chris01720 (talk) 06:10, 25 December 2009 (UTC)

I'll jump in on this few year old proposal. Wikipedia has far less known people and companies listed that have escaped deletion often times because nobody even knows enough about the articles to vote to begin with. Anyone that ever makes imdb for anything ends up with their own wikipedia page. There is no reason for this article to be deleted. Woods01 (talk) 13:22, 25 December 2011 (UTC)

RV

To prevent any further RVing of our edits we should probably discuss it here. While I do agree that there are productive edits to be made I do not think that nearly blanking the page is the way to go about this. Hullaballoo Wolfowitz has removed sourced material without proper explanation. Could you please explain in further detail why you have removed so much of the sourced material without the vague BLP, NPOV explanations we have received so far? You have removed any reference to the only studio appearance, acting gigs, podcasts, and venture into TNA Wrestling. All of these things are well sourced and encyclopedic as it pertains to being pertinent the life of Eric Lynch. I do not think these edits have been made in good faith and without further explanation I will assume this is just a case of WP:Crying "BLP!" and a case of a WP:BLP Zealot. You have essentially stripped this article down to "Eric the Midget exists"! — Preceding unsigned comment added by LordMaldad2000 (talkcontribs) 18:27, 7 February 2013 (UTC)

  • No. These are gross and conspicuous BLP violations, resulting in an article constructed to deride and degrade its subject. The many blog, kayfabe, and otherwise unreliable sources, usually self-published, cited in the article fall so far below BLP standards as to require no further discussion. The scanty selection of reliable sources do not support the claims they are cited for. Restoring garbage like this into a BLP is blockable behavior. • Would Howardstern.com fit any of those descriptions? If that is the case please swipe the rest of the article, because most of the remaining sources come from that site. His first and only studio appearance was deemed "Historic" by that very source yet you have removed any mention of that entirely. I also added a Newsday source to describe that event, you removed with any other mention of the "historic" event. His ventures into TNA Wrestling were well reported by wrestling journalists and The Stern Show. His acting jobs were covered by Entertainment Weekly and an IMDB source would be easy enough to get. The podcasts were covered by Howardstern.com, which is the only reoccurring source on this page as it stands now. Again, please describe specifically what BLP violations there were.LordMaldad2000 (talk) 02:35, 8 February 2013 (UTC)

Eric has made one in-studio appearance on November 3, 2008 alongside two prostitutes from the Bunny Ranch. Also present were Dixie Chicks singer Natalie Maines, wrestler Kurt Angle and American Idol alumna Diana DeGarmo. The event received press coverage from Newsday's Adam Abramson.[1][2]

Not done: please be more specific about what needs to be changed. This appears to already be in the article... BryanG (talk) 23:03, 1 March 2013 (UTC)

Eric's place of birth.

Per Eric's Twitter account - he was born in San Pablo, California - not Rodeo, California. https://twitter.com/EricTheActor11/status/333787144285995008 — Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.108.64.186 (talk) 19:40, 20 May 2013 (UTC)

I'm not going to update it to San Pablo because a Twitter post isn't a strong enough source. But Rodeo is unsourced so I have removed that as his place of birth.LM2000 (talk) 00:32, 11 June 2013 (UTC)

Failed "good article" nomination

I have quick-failed this article per its obviously non-neutral treatment of the subject. This is a biography of a living person, and thus it is even more POV and unacceptable than it normally would be to title the article using a term the very subject finds equatable to the N-bomb. I strongly suggest that the contributors to this article rename this article using Eric's full legal name, and enact a cleanup and general review per the Manual of Style, WP:V and especially WP:BLP. The lack of respect for the harm to a real person that could be caused by this article is absolutely shameful, and seriously damages Wikipedia's reputation. VanTucky Talk 21:59, 3 October 2007 (UTC)

I'm curious why the article should not remain named "Eric the Midget"? Whether he likes it or not, that is the name he is primarily known by. Wikipedia does not list people like Cedric the Entertainer or André the Giant by their real names, and if you look on imdb, most of Eric's credits are credited to Eric the Midget. Wouldn't moving this article to another name be a case of censorship? Should this be discussed with Wikipedia:WikiProject Wikipedians against censorship? Hoponpop69 22:10, 3 October 2007 (UTC)

Entertainer and Giant are not pejoratives. Midget is a slur. Also, I am a member of that WikiProject, so don't threaten me. I didn't actually change anything in the article, I simply failed an article for a GA nomination. Censorship entails something actually having been censored. VanTucky Talk 22:11, 3 October 2007 (UTC)
pejoratives?? Please, they are simply nouns, and in particular, they are part of someones title, just like andre the giant is. You need to relax a little bit and just enjoy this article, as it has done an excellent job listing the truths that that have taken place in eric's life. Find a real cause to get behind —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.136.36.111 (talk) 08:18, 28 February 2008 (UTC)

Where did you get the idea was threatening you? I was merely suggesting we get their perspective. Also I'm aware you didn't change anything in the article, I was suggesting we get their opinion on whether making said changes would fall under censorship. In my opinion moving a page because you find the name by which the subject of the article is most commonly reffered to offensive, is censorship. Hoponpop69 01:23, 4 October 2007 (UTC)

Giant is just as offensive as Midget. I suffer from Beanstalkitis and I demand you take back your comments and refer to Andre as Andre the Large 64.230.5.75 21:42, 14 October 2007 (UTC)

Not done: as you have not cited reliable sources to back up your request, without which no information should be added to any article. You say you are a family member, but we have no way of knowing if that is true, and all information needs to be verifiable. - Arjayay (talk) 17:07, 21 September 2014 (UTC)

Move?

As much as I hate to say it, Howard seems to have made "Eric the Actor" the new normal. We might want to check how much coverage he got as "the Midget" back in the day. --Lenin and McCarthy | (Complain here) 18:13, 22 September 2014 (UTC)

In the world of little people, referring to someone as a midget is derogatory. Just like calling an African-American a n****r or a Caucasian a cracker. it's the same with midget. Drop the word midget & replace it with actor as it should be. Cathead100 (talk) 10:24, 25 September 2014 (UTC)

Eric the MidgetEric the Actor – All signs point to Eric the Actor now being the most common name. This includes the overwhelming majority of news reports, both since his recent death and since Howard changed what he called him years ago. Google search also indicates that "Eric the Actor" gets far more relevant results than using midget. Additionally, not that it alone would be a reason to move, we should probably note the sincere desire of subject to not be addressed as a "the Midget" -- I guess BLP isn't really an issue anymore since he just died, but when all numbers point to Actor being the more common name anyway keeping the page at Midget just seems spiteful. I would note that there are 3 other editors who have either proposed or announched support for this move in the previous few discussions -- not sure if their !votes indicate that this could simply be a non-controversial request. Rethink the sentence.

I was reading this article and found the wording of the opening paragraph quite clumsy. I work in the disability field and nobody I know would like to be referred to this way. The particular phrase "and used a motorized wheelchair, in addition to various other afflictions" sounds like the wheelchair is an "affliction". Also the use of the word affliction would not be welcomed. You could use terms like other "health issues".

An example could be "Lynch was 3 ft 0 in (0.91 m) tall,[3] weighed 85 lb (39 kg), and had a number of health issues. He used a motorized wheelchair for mobility.

Medical conditions

Eric's IQ was tested and revealed on-air to be 90, or 'low average' though the tester hired by the show did admit that Eric's various physical handicaps likely artificially depressed his performance to some extent -- he was not, for example, able to move the blocks around as effectively as people the test was meant to score. http://www.wcqj.com/iq-test-results/

The general Eric “The Actor” Lynch page is incorrect about Eric’s height. He was 27” (2 ft 3) tall but it says he was 35” tall. Edits are disabled but if anyone knows how to pass the correct info to the author please do so! Dcarmody430 (talk) 23:36, 3 February 2019 (UTC)

Why is this page still locked to protect living biographies if the subject is now deceased?
